First off, Clay is found by digging in specific locations—that is, very specific locations. To maximize how much clay you can get in one session, you should follow the steps below:

Step One: Make a Friend

You need a friend to help you dig. Not for moral support, but of course to find extra Clay! Get one of the village characters at level 2 friendship to choose their specialty – and Make sure you select Ditch. This means that the character will increase the number of materials you find while digging exactly What we want.

For an added bonus, we highly recommend getting this character to at least Level 8 Friendship, which you can do by asking them to hang out with you while you plant and water crops, fish, search and mine, or by giving them Gifts do again and again.

Once you’ve made friends, make sure they’re with you, and then…

Step Three: Unlock the Glade of Trust

Spend 5,000 Dreamlight to unlock the Glade of Trust if you haven’t already.

You can get quite a bit of Dreamlight by completing the daily tasks, which fill up as you complete them. They’re usually relatively simple, like picking fruit, cooking meals, or talking to villagers.

If you can’t afford the Trust Glade you can also dig on the sunlit plateau, but the Trust Glade is cheaper and we found it better for digging long rows of holes.

Step 4: Delete a space

Open the furniture menu and clear out all of the trees, shrubs, and plants in a large area of the Glade of Confidence. You can put them back later – they’re just kept in your furniture inventory for now.

Exit the furniture menu and get your character to pull up all the wild plants and night thorns as well.

The larger the area, the more you can dig!

Step five: start digging

Our method was to dig in a long line, which you can do by standing up and holding the dig button to just keep digging holes until you reach an obstacle. Clay and dirt will fly out of the holes as you dig, and hopefully your friend will find some too.

Take breaks every now and then to collect all of these materials, because if you don’t, the glittery auto-collection will wear off and you’ll have to manually pick them up one at a time.

When you reach the end of a row of holes, go to the next row and repeat the process.

We recommend putting on a TV show or something along the way, because that’s how it is banal.

Step 6: Use the furniture trick to fill in the holes

If you want to repeat the digging over and over again, at some point you’ll have to do something about all those holes so you can start over.

Well, you don’t have to do this. We managed to collect almost 200 Clay by just digging four long rows of holes and there was a lot more room to keep going. But if you find the holes unsightly, or if you Yes, really If you need a lot of clay, you can use this trick to quickly eliminate holes without having to fill them all yourself.

Just open the furniture menu, get a big piece of furniture like an L shaped couch and place it over the holes. Do this for all holes with as much furniture as you have. Save and exit the furniture menu and the couch will fill in the holes. You can then go back to the furniture menu to grab all your sofas again and check if there are any holes left. Easy!

Results

We managed to get nearly 200 Clay in about 30 minutes using this method, plus a fair amount of dirt and two friendship levels with our buddy Kristoff, who helped us dig. Kind!
