Do the latest Nvidia drivers cause issues with Hogwarts Legacy performance?
Hogwarts Legacy Early Access has been here for a few days now, and while we were happy about some bugs, such as: The game seems to need some polishing and there have even been some reports that the latest Nvidia drivers are the problem with Hogwarts Legacy’s performance.
Will the latest Nvidia drivers crash Hogwarts Legacy?
Nvidia released its latest drivers on February 8th, although there was no mention of Hogwarts Legacy. It seems like they are taking their time to release game ready drivers for the game while Intel seems to have gotten ahead of them.
However, after gamers updated their graphics card drivers to the latest 528.49 update, there were multiple reports that the latest drivers were causing problems loading the game properly. The report in question was noted on the Steam Discussion page for Hogwarts Legacy and was headlined: “DO NOT UPDATE NVIDIA DRIVERS TO LATEST”.
It seems like the original poster of the report was a bit hasty as the answers suggest that the latest Nvidia drivers are not really the problem. It seems like the problem isn’t caused by specific drivers, but by the lack of optimization of Hogwarts Legacy in general.

Nvidia has yet to release its “Game Ready” drivers, which usually follow the launch of a game of this magnitude, although some users have reported that there is a Hogwarts Legacy profile in the latest driver release.
Fixed Hogwarts Legacy performance issues
The reported frame drops and crashes appear to be a symptom of the current state of Hogwarts Legacy and there is little we can do yet. The most common fixes include the following:
- Clear shader cache
- Disable ray tracing
- Enable DLSS
None of these are guaranteed fixes for Hogwarts Legacy performance issues, and all we can really hope for is a performance patch and Game Ready driver updates.
