Ethel M. OuimetEthel M. Ouimet, 91, formerly of Chateaugay, died Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Penfield Place in Penfield, NY. Born March 24, 1931 in Churubusco, NY, she was the daughter of Bruce and Helen (Paul). Molton. She was married to Tiburtius “Bert” Ouimet on June 2, 1951 at St. Patrick’s Church. He predeceased her on September 15, 1991.
Ethel graduated from Chateaugay High School with the Class of 1948 and the Adirondack Commerce School in 1949. She was employed as an Accountant and Treasurer for Chateaugay Central School and retired in 2001 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Chateaugay United Methodist Church. Ethel loved reading, Sudoku and knitting having knitted many sweaters, hats, mittens and blankets throughout her life.
When visitors came, she was invited to an event, or there was a bake sale coming up, you knew she was going to bake cookies, tarts, or cakes.
She had a special love for her family. She never hesitated to travel to an event, be it a grandson’s or great-grandson’s birthday, a sporting event, plays or concerts.
She also had a passion for bowling and played in the Chateaugay Women’s Bowling League, also serving as their secretary for many years.
She also enjoyed watching sporting events, particularly U. Conn women’s basketball and the New York Yankees, which she loved.
She is survived by four sons, Ronald Ouimet and his fiancé Roxy Ashline of Sun City, Arizona, Thomas Ouimet and his companion Debbie Lett of Knoxville, Tennessee, Robert Ouimet and his wife Heidi of Webster, NY, Jerry Ouimet and his wife, Lana of Shelburne , Vt.; a daughter, Kay Moser and her husband, Rob, of Southbury, Connecticut; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jennifer, Shannon, Rachelle, Jason, Brett, Chelsea, Tiffany, Tawnya, JP, Lauryn, Haley and Kyle; 12 great-grandchildren, Justus, Rene, Addy, Luke, Eric, Gabriel, Aaliyah, Grayson, Brock, Isabella, Ava and Aaliyah; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Moulton and Sharon Ouimet; a brother-in-law, Donnie Ouimet and his wife Bea; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was deceased by her parents; brothers Walter “Bud”, Jack and Donald Moulton; sister, Kathryn Moulton; daughter-in-law, Debbie Ouimet; brother-in-law, Allister (Marion), John and Joseph Ouimet; Sisters-in-law Rosemary (Charles) Swift and Madeline (Roger) LeBeau.
On Thursday, August 11th there will be consultation hours at the Chateaugay funeral home from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm
A memorial service will be held with CLM Cora Smith on Friday, August 12 at 11:00 am at Chateaugay United Methodist Church.
Burial will take place in Eastside Cemetery, Chateaugay.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Chateaugay United Methodist Church, Alzheimer’s Disease Research, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
