Europa League round of 16 second legs: Feyenoord, Juventus, Man United march into quarter-finals | UEFA Europa League

Manchester United and Juventus got through easily, Sevilla kept their nerve in Istanbul and Feyenoord stormed in with seven goals in Friday’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final draw, but Arsenal were eliminated on penalties.

We round up all the action from the Round of 16.

Enner Valencia’s casually executed penalty was not enough to close a first-leg deficit in Istanbul. The 33-year-old sent Marko Dmitrović the wrong way from the penalty spot just before half-time after Alex Telles worked on a Ferdi Kadıoğlu cross. The hosts increased the pressure after the break, with Valencia closest to equalizing. However, Sevilla stood their ground and might have equalized on the night when Erik Lamela’s free-kick hit the post late on.

Wojciech Szczęsny saved from Matthias Ginter in the first half and from Lucas Höler in the second, but Freiburg’s breakthrough didn’t succeed and Federico Chiesa made Juve’s victory a late one.

Juanmi slid an early shot just wide of the far post before Joaquín’s deflected shot grazed the outside of the post, and Facundo Pellistri hit the wood at the far end on his first United start just before half-time. The game was over for the hosts, however, when Marcus Rashford fired a brilliant shot from 25 yards out in the 56th minute, barely a minute after missing a decent chance in the penalty area.

The Rotterdam side advanced to the quarter-finals with a win equal to the widest margin in a Europa League game. Santiago Giménez opened the scoring before Orkun Kökçü made it 3-0 with two before the break. Oussama Idrissi scored two more after the break, with Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Danilo Pereira completing a four-goal salvo within 18 minutes. Kevin Kelsy had the last word with a late consolation for the pitmen.

The Belgian Union prevailed confidently against their ten-strong German colleagues. Teddy Teuma put the hosts ahead in the 18th minute with a beautiful first left foot drive before Lazare Amani doubled the lead after the break with a great close-range shot. Urs Fischer’s side were reduced to ten men when substitute Janik Haberer received a second yellow card ten minutes from time and Loïc Lapoussin then scored a third.

With a commanding victory in Budapest, the venue of this year’s Europa League final, the Bundesliga team advanced to the quarter-finals. Ferencváros’ hopes of regaining a 2-0 deficit in the first leg were dashed after Moussa Diaby scored a superb solo goal in the third minute. Adama Traoré hit the bar as the home side pushed back, but Amine Adli’s late goal put everyone in doubt.

Antonio Adán saved from Gabriel Martinelli and set up Nuno Santos to score Sporting CP on penalties against the Premier League leaders. The Gunners took the lead within 20 minutes when Granit Xhaka cleaned up after an Adán save, but Rúben Amorim’s side struck back just after the hour when Pedro Gonçalves unleashed a stunning strike from more than 40 metres. Manuel Ugarte’s dismissal late in extra time didn’t leave Sporting indifferent.

The San Sebastián side failed to capitalize on chances that could have leveled their deficit in the first leg. Alexander Sørloth and Igor Zubeldia both headed wide and the hosts couldn’t find a breakthrough. La Real sub Carlos Fernández was sent off late for a second caution.
