Following Julius Randle’s recent on-court breakdown with the Knicks, an old clip featuring his former teammates has caused a stir on social media.

In a video from the March 2 episode of Theo Pinson’s Run Your Race podcast with Tidal Leave, the Dallas forward welcomed teammate Mavericks guard Reggie Bullock as a guest.

The pair discussed how Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau benched players who don’t play defense – with Pinson claiming Randle is the exception to the rule.

“We really cared about getting points – you know what I mean?” Bullock said.

“Or you didn’t want to play. Thibs didn’t want to play you…so you had to defend yourself.”

Pinson, who nodded his head repeatedly, agreed.

“You had to play defense,” he said.

“…Except Julius.”

Bullock and Pinson immediately looked at each other before cracking up with laughter.

“We were proud of that,” Bullock added, citing Thibodeau’s defensive style.

Pinson, Bullock and Randle were all teammates in New York during the 2020-21 season.

Bullock and Randle both signed with the Knicks in July 2019.

The clip surfaced online as Knicks fans continue to criticize Thibodeau’s approach to disciplining his star player after several outbursts this season.

Randle’s latest disappointment came Thursday in the Knicks’ 111-106 loss to the Magic — New York’s third straight loss.

After the half-time buzzer, Randle was given a technical foul by Lee Wood for arguing with the official – contributing to a string of outbursts on the pitch this season.

Thursday marked the third straight game in which Randle received a technical foul.

Then, as his Knicks teammates tried to drag him away from the referee, Randle struck up a conversation with Immanuel Quickley – and looked angry while twittering in his face.

Randle finished with 23 points, nine rebounds and four assists.

He did not speak to reporters after the game.

“It’s our team right now, just we’re not in shape. And that’s why you have to pull together in difficult times,” said Thibodeau. “You go into things together, you go out of things together.

“So we just have to do it, do everything much better. And we have to work together as a team.

“There will be ups and downs that we have to master. Everyone does. And we must not lose sight of what we want to achieve.”
