Exeter City 2-1 Lincoln City
A goal in each half from top scorer Sam Nombe gave Exeter a hard-fought 2-1 win over Lincoln at St James Park.
With her first real try, Lincoln scored in the 19th minute. A corner was headed back over the goal and Paudie O’Connor jumped highest on the line to nod off from close range.
The Greeks equalized in hilarious circumstances in the 33rd minute when Sean Roughan strayed completely from an attempted back pass to goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.
He found space instead and with the keeper out of his box, Nombe won the foot race, rolling into an empty net from 25 yards.
Nombe should have made it 2-1 moments later but shot wide on the edge in a one-on-one with Rushworth and then headed over the goal from a brilliant Demi Mitchell cross.
Alex Hartridge headed wide for Exeter from a corner but Nombe gave the hosts a 2-1 lead in the 73rd minute as he showed great strength to fend off a defender and drill the ball over the top of goal and into the far bottom corner .
Hartridge was shown a second yellow card after losing the ball and pulling Teddy Bishop back five minutes from time, but Exeter looked the game good to jump over Lincoln in the table.
