Expand Your Galaxy With The Latest Traveller Books

Traveler offers tabletop roleplayers the opportunity to explore a new galaxy. Whether imitation of the space opera by war of starsthe found family of Protector of the Galaxy or the intrigue of The wide, Traveler features a simple set of rules that players can use to build their own sci-fi setting or use the classic Third Imperium setting to play out their stories. Mongoose Publishing’s version began in 2008 with a second edition in 2016.

In 2022, the company updated the core rulebook to match the look of the mainline while introducing some errata to the game. Now the company is updating one of the most popular books for the game, bringing out two new releases that offer more opportunities for tables to customize their futuristic world.

High Guard Update 2022

Throughout the five-decade history of Traveller, There were many iconic ships. Many players embarked on great adventures with their humble Type-S Scout or subsidized merchant ships. Just as many players have sat down and designed their own mobile home in space using the spaceship building rules.

The Update of the core rulebook 2022 offered a taste of that experience to all the budding Geordi LaForges and Kaylee Fryes out there. High Guard Update 2022 offers players a wealth of options to squeeze every last bit of use out of their tonnage. What would a space smuggler ship be without a few special modifications?

The book also expands rules for things like faster-than-light technology and different types of ship weapons. There’s also the ability to build anything from massive space destroyers to looming space stations. Once everything is set up, players can use the massive space combat rules to smash everything back up.

Robot manual

Chances are there will be robots in the future. Will they be apparently mechanical servants, lifelike androids indistinguishable from humans, or a culture that has broken away from its creators to violently rebel against biological life? The referee can decide with the new one Robot manual.

The book contains robots as equipment, robots as characters and rules for cybernetics. Examples include purpose-built bots for things like labor or military service, nanobots for medical assistance, and even alien automoton for players to puzzle over. The book contains not only design rules, but also discussions about the impact of different technologies.

Sector Building Guide

Traveller is perhaps best known for its lifepath character creation, which features a small mini-game that can be played before the actual game begins. Right behind this game are the sector construction tables, which give the referees the resources to randomly create entire star sectors with a few dice rolls. Exploration remains a key component of the gameplay experience, whether it’s discovering new planets or finding new cargo to sell back at the space station.

Building guide for sectors expands this fascinating part of the game into its own box. The ledger covers themes and other elements that can guide the creation of a star sector, along with advanced options for more detail. Also included is a map of a brand new sector, along with blank hex pagers for players and referees to use as they explore new areas of the galaxy.

These books are available directly from Mongoose, through local game stores, or digitally from partners dusch as DriveThruRPGs.
