Although almost everyone was predicting an easy third straight Drivers’ Championship win for Max Verstappen in 2023, his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez continued to increase the pressure early in the season.

The Mexican driver put together the perfect weekend to close the gap in the Drivers’ Championship to six points at the top last time out in Azerbaijan and will be desperate for more success in Miami this weekend.

Due to his recent performances, Perez’s chances of winning this race have dropped significantly, although Verstappen still remains the favourite. Charles Leclerc, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton all follow close behind.

F1 Miami Grand Prix 2023 odds

Just like the previous four races of the 2023 F1 season, Max Verstappen has been made the big favorite to win the 2023 Miami Grand Prix.

However, Sergio Perez has greatly closed the gap compared to recent weeks as the Mexican driver clinched a famous one-two in Azerbaijan in both the F1 sprint and subsequent Grand Prix.

Charles Leclerc is the third favorite to win at Miami – a circuit where he took pole position last season – after clinching a podium last time out in Baku.

Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Carlos Sainz follow on the odds list.

F1 Miami Grand Prix 2023: Best bet

What Sergio Perez’s recent form has shown is that he can keep up on his day and surpass Max Verstappen.

This is great for F1 neutrals looking to see more of a title shot this season, while also opening up most of the markets likely to see success from a betting perspective.

We chose one here as we expect to win the race by a margin of between 0 and 05.999 seconds. That happened last time at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix (2.137s) and the first run of the Miami Grand Prix last season when Verstappen beat Leclerc by just 3.786s.

The tight nature of this track will likely cluster the pack even more in 2023.

Although McLaren suffered a difficult start to the season, the British F1 team has seemingly recovered of late and now has a car more than capable of cracking the top ten on race day.

That was evident again as Norris sauntered to a points-place finish in Azerbaijan, while his overall form suggests another points-place finish is likely here, having finished P6 at the previous Melbourne GP.

To put it even more bluntly, over the past three seasons, McLaren’s ‘Mr Consistency’ has scored 39 points in 48 races. His teammate Oscar Piastri’s pace also seems strong of late, which helps highlight the car’s improvements as they look to battle in midfield again this season.

As for Hamilton, he continues to remain reliable when it comes to top six finishes, despite seemingly delivering very different performances from his Mercedes car each week. Admittedly he slipped to P7 in the sprint race in Azerbaijan but he bounced back and took P6 in the Grand Prix meaning he has finished inside the top 6 in all four races so far in 2023.
