Gilberto Ramirez vs. Gabriel Rosado date, start time, odds, schedule & card for 2023 boxing fight

The light heavyweight division will be in the spotlight when former world champion Gilberto Ramirez takes on long-time favorite Gabriel Rosado on March 18. The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, takes place at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California and will be broadcast on DAZN.

At just 31, Ramirez has an impressive resume. “Zurdo” turned pro in 2009 and won the WBO super middleweight title in 2016, making five defenses of the belt. In his last match last November, the Mexican star faced WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol but lost in a one-sided affair.

Looking for a way to rebuild, Ramirez sees Rosado as the perfect dance partner.

“He’s a tough opponent who’s always ready to fight,” Ramirez said via Boxing Scene. “He’s been in the ring with the best and can be dangerous at any point in the fight. And that it’s a duel between Mexico and Puerto Rico is just the icing on the cake to make this an exciting fight for the fans.

“I’m more motivated than ever to get back on track and show why I’m still one of the best in the game.”

Rosado’s career has taken a unique and painful path lately. Rosado won multiple regional belts and lost to Gennadiy Golovkin and Peter Quillin for middleweight gold in 2013. Including the loss to Golovkin, he has won 5-11-1 with one no-contest in his last 17 bouts and is currently on a three-way fight against losing streaks. His fighting heart, however, cannot be denied. Rosado has fought against the best in boxing in multiple weight classes.

Ramirez has 30 wins over knockout. Rosado, 37, has only been knocked out four times, his most recent TKO loss coming in 2014 against David Lemieux. Hungry for a win, Rosado doesn’t worry about Ramirez’s knockout power, instead ending the fight with his hand raised.

“I’ve been working with big boys all the time,” Rosado told DAZN via Boxing Scene. “There are middleweights who hit harder than light heavyweights. I’m sure I’ve fought a lot of middleweights who hit harder than light heavyweights.”
