Here’s How To Use AI—Like ChatGPT And Bard—For Everyday Tasks Like Creating A Budget, Finding Airfare Or Planning Meals

top line

AI has become a hot topic, gaining recognition for impressive endeavors like drafting contracts and coding apps, but it can also help with mundane tasks like budgeting and writing emails.

Important facts

Since its release in November 2022, people have used the AI chatbot ChatGPT to complete a variety of tasks including Write college level essays, Create code and even play games like tic-tac-toe

Google released Bard, a ChatGPT competitor and a separate entity from the company’s Google search engine, on March 21, deepening the rivalry between Google and Microsoft, an OpenAI investor.

Bard is useful for summarizing articles and websites, planning birthday parties, and creating a pros and cons list to help with difficult decisions.

AI is ingrained in everyday applications like facial recognition for phones and fixing grammatical errors – according to a report by mobile development company IDAP, 97% of smartphone users use AI-powered voice assistants like Siri and OK Google.

The chatbots are each known for spreading misinformation and presenting biased responses — ChatGPT came under fire for writing a positive poem about Biden but refusing to do the same for Trump, and according to a report by The New York Times, Experts recommended blocking the launch of Bard because of its inaccuracy.

Creating a meal plan

Planning meals in advance has been shown to have great benefits. A study published in International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity Meal planning has been found to be associated with greater food choices and lower rates of obesity. A viral TikTok explained how the creator used ChatGPT to create a meal plan. The chatbot can create meals for any diet. For example, if there is a calorie or protein goal that needs to be met each day, ChatGPT can create a meal plan that addresses that. It can even accommodate dietary restrictions (e.g. vegetarian diet, nut allergy) and create a meal shopping list. A sample ChatGPT meal plan prompt is: “Create me a meal plan with a week’s meals. I need 3 meals a day and I need 3 snacks a day. I have a protein goal of ___ grams of protein each day and my calorie limit for each day is ___ calories. Be as detailed as possible, including the calorie count and protein count for each meal. I do not eat ___. Make a grocery list too.” The bot then provides a detailed list of meals for each day and a grocery list at the end.

Planning a trip

ChatGPT is a good on-the-go tool for getting recommendations on places to eat, things to see, and trips to do. If you’re asked, “Which restaurants have good restaurants? [name of destination]?” The bot provides a list of restaurants along with descriptions. ChatGPT can help at almost all stages of travel planning, with the exception of finding hotel rates and prices – this is where Bard comes in. B) Between (arrival and departure dates).” Bard will then name the airlines with the cheapest, current flights – it points also note that costs are subject to change. If these prices are too expensive, Bard can find the solution. Give the chatbot the following prompt: “Put a tracker on these flights so I get notifications about price drops” and it asks for permission to create a Google Flights account with the user’s email. If permission is granted, Bard proceeds with the account and adds the flights to the user’s “watch list”. It will do the same with hotels by creating a Google Hotels account and adding them to a “watch list” as well. Unfortunately, none of the AI bots can actually book flights and hotels.

Creating a financial plan

ChatGPT can also help with finances. When prompted “I will [whatever amount] pay every month [amount] in rent or mortgage, [amount] in bills, [amount] in the food market, [amount] in gas and i am [amount] have debts. Create a financial plan for me to help save.” ChatGPT gives a detailed and customized breakdown of where and how much the user should allocate their money. With your remaining income after bills and expenses, the bot recommends setting up an emergency fund and saving at least three to six months on living expenses, contributing the maximum amount allowed for a retirement plan or IRA, and saving for other goals like buying a house or car. It prioritizes debt and recommends using extra money from bonuses or tax refunds for an additional payment.

compose emails

AI can help reduce workload by typing a reply to emails. For example, Bard can type a reply to a work request that the user doesn’t have time for by using the following prompt: “Write a reply to the following email and tell them I can’t complete this task: ( Paste the body of the email).” Bard offers three draft responses for the user to choose from. However, when asked to send the email himself, Bard says he will, but will include a disclaimer informing the recipient that the response is coming from an AI. However, it doesn’t actually send the email, it just spits out the text for the user to copy and paste. ChatGPT also can’t send emails directly because it “can’t send emails [the user’s] names.”
