How long is Tyler Adams out? Latest injury timeline for USMNT captain, Leeds star

With the appointment as captain of former head coach Gregg Berhalter, the only 24-year-old Tyler Adams has become one of the most important players of his new club Leeds United, but also of the US national team.

Unfortunately, both his club and his country will be without the pivot in midfield for a long time.

Adams will be sidelined for a “prolonged absence” after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury, according to The Athletic’s Phil Shay. The club confirmed the news Sky Sports.

The injury was reportedly picked up during a training session prior to the 4-2 win over Wolves on March 18, and he retired from USMNT duty immediately afterwards.

With the US captain away from action for the foreseeable future, it’s unclear when he will return to the field. As Leeds battle relegation they will have to rely on others in midfield including Adams’ international team-mate Weston McKennie.

Tyler Adams stats, goals for Leeds United

Tyler Adams, who only joined Leeds United in the summer of 2022, has immediately become one of the club’s most important players.

Prior to his injury, he had played in all but two Premier League games for Leeds that season and was represented in all but three minutes of those games.

Adams also appeared in two FA Cup games for the club in 2022/23, although Leeds had often used cup games to rotate their squad, with Adams often being sacrificed as part of those changes.

In addition to his club achievements, Adams has also become a key player for the US national team, being named captain and playing in the country’s most important games. He played every minute of the team’s four World Cup games in Qatar and wore the armband as the United States reached the Round of 16 before suffering defeat to the Netherlands.
