How to add GIFs to Google Slides

Sharing GIFs to text messages, social media, and even Slack gives you a fun way to communicate or just say something unique. But these moving images are not limited to chats and posts. You can also add a GIF to your presentation in Google Slides.

Maybe you’re creating a slideshow for your class or family that you want to add something exciting and fun to. You may even have a GIF of your own that you would like to share with your business or for your product or service. How to insert a GIF in Google Slides.

Upload a GIF to Google Slides

If you have a GIF saved on your device, you can upload it to Google Slides like any other image.

Step 1: Visit Google Slides, open your presentation and choose a spot on the slide where you want the GIF.

Step 2: Choose insertion > picture from the menu and select Upload from computer.

Step 3: Locate the GIF in the window that appears, select and select it upload.

Browse the window to find and insert a GIF.

Step 4: You will then see your GIF ad on your slide in the location you selected. You can then drag it to move it, drag a corner or edge to resize it, or select and use it format options button in the toolbar.

Add a GIF from Google Drive or Photos

You may have a GIF saved on Google Drive or Google Photos that you want to use. It’s just as easy as uploading a GIF from your computer.

Step 1: Select the spot on the slide where you want the GIF.

Step 2: Choose insertion > picture from the menu and select journey or photos.

Step 3: When the sidebar on the right opens, navigate to the GIF location in Drive or Photos.

You can use the tabs above to switch to youngest, my rideand Marked in Google Drive or photos and albums in Google Photos. Both locations also offer a Seek above to quickly find your GIF.

Step 4: Choose the GIF and choose insertion at the bottom of the sidebar.

Step 5: When your GIF appears on the slide, you can move, resize, or format it like any other image in Google Slides.

Insert a GIF with a URL

Another handy option for adding a GIF to Google Slides is the URL. If you find a GIF on a site like Giphy, Imgur, or a similar site, you can copy the link and use it to paste it onto your slide.

Step 1: Select the spot on the slide where you want the GIF.

Step 2: Choose insertion > picture from the menu and select By URL.

Step 3: Paste or type the link in the field provided and select it insertion.

Step 4: You should see a preview of the GIF next. Choose insertion to place it on your slide.

Step 5: As with the methods above, you can then select the GIF to move, resize, or format it.

Putting a GIF on one of your Google Slides might just be the image you need to make your presentation stand out.
