You use Apple Maps on your iPhone to get directions to a specific location, but you need to make a few stops along the way. In the past, there wasn’t an easy way to add stopovers to your routes. But with iOS 16, you can add multiple stops, both specific addresses and generic types of businesses, on your way to your destination. Here’s how.

First, update your iPhone to iOS 16 or later if you haven’t already. Go to Settings, select General and then tap on the Software update option. You will be informed that iOS is up to date or prompted to download and install the latest update.

In this case, set the new date and time. Select Arrive by above if you want to set a specific date and time for arriving at your destination. Tap Done. Then tap Avoid and set the options for Avoid Tolls or Avoid Highways if needed. Tap Apply (Figure C).

Add a general category as a stop

In addition to adding a specific city, address or landmark as a stop, you can also add a general category, e.g. B. a gas station, a restaurant or another pit stop. To do this, follow the steps to add your destination. Tap the Go button to trigger directions. Then tap the up arrow at the bottom and select Add Stopover.

The next screen shows the different categories that can be added as stops, including breakfast, gas stations, coffee shops, car parks, mini markets and banks and ATMs. Select the category you want to add and the closest locations will appear on the screen. Tap the Add button for the item you want to add (Figure E).
