Revenants of the Fallen Legion She’s no stranger to combat – more than half of the game consists of Rowena running around beating monsters with her spectral magic and her equally spectral companions. It’s a fun time for everyone as combat in Revenants is pretty good with a lot of nuances. However, it’s a little too easy in the early game.

This is where bosses come in. Larger than life enemies designed to test your mettle and make sure you’re paying attention. The first true boss of the Fallen Legion Revenants, Arkhaeocetes, as a giant sky whale armed with laser cannons, is more than capable of sweeping your banshee brigade off the face of the earth.

Who is Archaeocetes?

Archaeocetes is the first boss the revenant of the fallen legion. You meet him at the end of the first chapter, and it will be the last enemy standing between you and much-needed supplies. Archaeocetes is tremendously large because he is and is a whale by far the most dangerous enemy You have made yourself up to this point.

Attacks of Archaeocetes

Arkhaeocetes has multiple attacks and they are all very dangerous. Not surprisingly, some are more dangerous than others, and these hyper dangerous attacks should be avoided at all costs. Arkhaeocetes packs enough punch (despite the lack of arms…) to wipe out your entire party in a single hit.

Double cannon Arkhaeocetes fires a vertical line of energy projectiles from its head. It will stagger and damage the first specimen hit, dealing moderate damage. This attack moves fairly slowly and is easily parried.
Typhoon Carronade Archaeocetes’ first named attack. Arkhaeocetes flashes red and raises its head to reveal a cannon under its neck. After a delay, a fast-moving fireball is launched, dealing enough damage to potentially 1-shot the first specimen hit. This attack takes a while to come out, but once fired it moves very quickly. The timing is pretty awkward to understand, but parrying this attack is necessary to beat this boss. If parried, this attack is performed immediately interruption Arkhaeocetes and opened it up for a massive counterattack.
Leviathan Ray Archaeocetes’ second named attack. Arkhaeocetes opens its jaws to reveal a large laser cannon. After a short delay, a penetrating laser beam is fired, hitting every specimen in your party. This attack technically hits multiple times in quick succession and can wipe out your entire party if left unblocked. This attack must at least be blocked or you lose immediately. The timing can be tricky, but it’s also pretty generous. You can block each of the hits this attack lands, so a late block can still deflect some of the damage or even parry it. Unlike a typical projectile, Arkhaeocetes does not reflect this attack.
Ashdown Guardian Arkhaeocetes summons a Pitchfork Farmer or a Shield Bearer. These minions must be killed as quickly as possible. Arkhaeocetes can use this attack multiple times, which can end up overpowering you. More importantly, these minions block reflected projectiles, preventing you from killing Arkhaeocetes.
Roar Archaeocetes will roar between stages, dealing great damage to your party. This attack can be blocked, but timing is a bit tricky. It does a lot of AOE damage when you miss the block, but you can just use Rowena’s healing spells to make up for it.
Mana Spring This is less of an attack, but it’s still tied to Arkhaeocetes. Occasionally, Arkhaeocetes will summon a mana fountain to your side of the battlefield. Simply stand on the mana source to quickly restore your mana.

Mechanics of Archaeocetes

Arkhaeocetes has three main mechanics – rapidly recovering blood pressure, Typhoon Carronadeand three phases. In each phase, Arkhaeocetes will regenerate its MP faster, with phase three essentially making Arkhaeocetes immortal since you can’t deal enough damage interruption it. That’s where Typhoon Carronade comes into play – this attack can kill one specimen immediately when it hits, but when you Perfect save it, it will interruption Archaeocetes. If you can’t reflect this attack, you won’t be able to win this fight.

Which role models to take?

At this point in the game You don’t have access to many copies. At least you only have your hands on Zulfikar, Aleister, Burgundy and either Jacquin or Solomon. Our choice of examples would be Zulifqar, Aleisterand Jacquin (or burgundy if you don’t have them).

This party gives you that Tankiness of Zulifqar who can take a few hits for the team and still live, along with thAleister and Jacquine’s raw DPS. Jacquine is particularly good as her deathblow, tidal waveis excellent at dealing both HP and MP damage.

phase one

This is of course the simplest phase of Archaeocetes. You don’t have to deal with his Leviathan Ray, you don’t have to worry about his BP regen, and it doesn’t spawn too many minions. In this phase All you have to do is focus on dealing BP damage and deflecting his dual cannons.


Jacquine’s tidal wavethrow three times in quick succession can halve Archaeocetes’ MP, which allows you to burn through this stage very quickly. It should take two Breaks to end this phase.

Arkhaeocetes will open this phase with a Roar, so be ready to block and/or heal. You must make sure to kill all of Arkhaeocetes’ minions as soon as they spawn. You don’t want them body blocking, nor do you want any of them to shake your front line and leave your muddy back line open to attack.

As with phase one, two are required Breaks to end the phase.

phase three

This is where the fight will end – one way or another. Arkhaeocetes becomes more aggressive and uses its attacks more often – including Ashdown Guards. His MP regeneration has also increased to a point where it might as well be immediate. For this reason, The only way to get past this stage is to parry Typhoon Carronade perfectly.

for this to work, His minions must be dead or they will block the reflected projectile. To achieve this, concentrate all your AP as soon as they spawn – including mana. Be careful with Leviathan Ray at this stage. If you get hit by this attack and don’t manage to block it, the fight will likely end and force a full restart.

Phase three is all about Mastering the timing of Archaeocetes. Do that and you will walk away victorious.
