Khezu – strengths and weaknesses

  • Weak points – head, neck, torso
  • Resistant Points – wings, tail
  • Elemental/Disease Weakness – Fire
  • Elemental/Disease Resistance – Thunder, Ice, Water, Dragon

Khezu has a basic elemental weakness: Fire. As explained below, entering this fight with a fire-based weapon gives you a great advantage. As a creature using thunder, Khezu is immune to thunder, but also fairly resistant to attacks from Ice, Water, and Dragon elements. The Khezu can also be poisoned fairly easily, so if you’re using a ranged weapon make sure you apply a coating of poison.

Khezu has a variety of targets on her long body, but she can deal most of the damage head, neck and torso. The Khezu has a long neck that’s fairly easy to hit with a slashing weapon, but its head also has a larger hitbox than you might expect. When using a slashing weapon, it’s okay to swing pretty much anywhere from the bottom of the torso to the top of the head.

If you are using a piercing ammo-based weapon, The most damage that can possibly be dealt to Khezu is hitting the head with your projectiles.

Best gear for fighting Khezu

  • Recommended Weapons – Crimson Goat, Daybreak Daggers, Flamed Gunlance, Queen’s Melody
  • Recommended armor – Barroth set

Fire element weapons give you a huge advantage over the Khezu. All damage types are sufficient, with slashing weapons being more effective against the neck and projectiles being more effective against the head. For armor, you should take a set with you thunder resistance: a good start of the game Thunder resistant set is this Barroth set.

Khezu – combat breakdown and movements

once studied, Khezu is a fairly easy encounter. Their movements can be divided into elemental attacks and physical attacks. You will generally use both equally.

One of Khezu’s greatest assets is its ability to stun the hunter with lightning projectiles. They shoot these out of their mouths in a straight line, but they can also electrify their entire body, which can be dangerous if you’re already nearby or being attacked with a heavy weapon. If you get hit by one of these, you get these Thunderstorm Debuff that can cause paralysis (making you immobile). Wearing thunder resistant armor makes it harder to gain this debuff.

Khezu’s projectiles can be deployed in a variety of patterns: three lightning balls in a scatter pattern, two balls in a scatter pattern, and occasionally just a single ball. When heavily damaged and in a frenzy, they can also leap into the air and fall on the player while electrifying their own body, which is very difficult to dodge.

Regarding physical attacks Khezu will often lash out with her weird neck. Their neck will pulse a little before they leap forward in a short windup window, and it’s relatively easy to dodge a roll through it or to the side. This will also provide a brief window to punish Khezu by hitting her neck or head after she lunges.

Khezu will also sweep with her tail, sometimes going straight for the hunter. The attack can be a very dangerous attack if not avoided, but it’s quite noticeable as the Khezu slowly increase the pace of their steps before rapidly accelerating in speed. Dodge to the side and punish when her attack stalls.

When you face off against Khezu in a cave area, They have the ability to hang from the ceiling. They can cast most of their attacks from this position, including their projectiles and jumping electricity attacks. You’ll have to get creative with your wire beetle to launch yourself in the air to hit it unless you have a ranged weapon.

Khezu – drops and materials

After defeating the Khezu, they will drop an array of materials that can be used to craft useful weapons and armor inspired by this terrifying creature. The Khezu also has the ability to drop some generic materials that can be used to craft a variety of other sets:

  • sagging skin
  • Suspicious catch
  • Light extract
  • electric bag
  • Monster Bone M
  • Wyvern Tear
