How to Bet: The Dallas Mavericks’ 2022-23 Season

With the season just days away, this is a perfect opportunity to take a look at the betting landscape for the Dallas Mavericks as they head into the new year. All odds are provided by DraftKings Sportsbook. Championship odds, overall wins and more, we’ll cover every point.

championship chances

First, let’s take a look at the big thing, championship odds. Currently, DraftKings Sportsbook has the Mavericks’ odds of winning the championship at +2200. This means that if you bet $100 you would win $2,200. This is a tie for the 11thth best chances to win everything. After attending the Western Conference Finals; I feel like the Mavs are being treated a little disrespectfully here with these odds. Especially when you look at the odds for the Lakers who are sitting at +1800 odds. Watch out for Mavs odds going down as the season progresses. If you can get her at +2200 then this is probably the best there will be!

total winnings

DraftKings has the overall wins for the Mavs at 48.5. The West is very strong again this year, winning by multiples every night. The Mavs came off a 52-30 season last year. With a total of 48.5 wins I think that’s a fair number and a very achievable one. The odds on the over are -115, making them easy favorites to break that number. A $115 bet would net you $100. If you’re looking for some value, I’d check out the “to win 50+ games” category. Mavs are +115 to win 50+ games, making them slight underdogs if they hit that number. When you feel a little more confident, you can bet on them winning over 60 games. The odds for this are +1200, making a $100 bet a $1,200 win if they come away with 60 wins. I personally like the 50+ games as I believe it is very doable while giving you better odds of winning.

Victory in the Southwest Division

The Mavs are currently expected to be second in the Southwest Division, just behind the Memphis Grizzlies. Give me the mavs to win the division at +140 odds all day. This division is going to be tough as the Grizzlies and Pelicans are both solid teams. The Pelicans at +400 are very interesting and I think they are better than the odds suggest.

To reach the playoffs

The Mavericks sit at -550 to make the playoffs. It doesn’t really make sense to bet on it unless you’re betting thousands. You would have to bet $550 to win $100. The Mavs should make the playoffs. So if you’re looking for value in that category, I’d look at the Wizards, which are +340 in the postseason.

Lukas Doncic, MVP

Luka is currently the betting favorite to win the award. With +425 he ousts players like Giannis (+600) and Embiid (+650). At +425 the value is not as good as desired. Winning the MVP is such a daunting task that winning $425 on a $100 bet seems somehow insignificant. If you really think this is Lucas prize to lose then this is a nice way to quadruple your money. However, the variables that go into the prize’s earnings are just too difficult to predict. When betting on MVP I look at players who get a lot of media hype combined with good odds. Yes Morant fits in perfectly, the media loves her a little Yes, and the kid can line up MVP numbers. With odds of +1500 I like that a lot more than betting on the favorite Luka.

Rookie of the Year

We’ve all heard the stories about how good Jaden Hardy did at camp. Why not scatter some bankroll on him if he wins the ROY? He is currently sitting at +4500 odds. That would be the 17thth best odds according to DraftKings. Paolo Banchero is the clear favorite for this prize as any minutes he can manage will be his. The NBA is very unpredictable, which is why it’s worth putting a few bucks on the Longshot Hardy.

6th man of the year

This is an interesting award as the Mavericks currently have two players in the top 7 favorites to win the award. Christian Wood is currently the second favorite for the award. With odds of +800, it’s definitely worth betting some money on. We all know that Wood starts the season off the bench and if he stays there and thrives, I think that accolade will easily belong to him. His teammate Spencer Dinwiddie currently sits at +2000 to win the award. I like to sprinkle a little on him, plus he’ll be hosting the show for the second unit. The Mavs have some firepower off the bench and I expect their names will be in contention for that honor by the end of the season.

coach of the year

Jason Kidd has been a great coach so far during his tenure with the Mavs. The odds reflect this as he sits at 6th best chance of winning the prize. At +1400 the value is there and worth spending some money on. Kidd made the defense look a lot better last year and hopes they improve even more with the addition of McGee. A $100 bet would net you $1,400, making this game very valuable.

Can’t wait for the season to start on Wednesday! It’s the best time of year when we can cheer for the Mavs once again! Having a little more skin in the game will allow you to appreciate the games even more. From betting on MVP to division winner, there is something for everyone. Personally, my favorite bet from this list is that Mavs will win 50+ games this season. At +115 odds, I think the Mavs can pull this off and have a few games left. I will also enter against Christian Wood to win 6th Man of the Year at +800. The value is too high not to put down a little something. We look forward to a great season with everyone in the community! Before each game, keep an eye out for our betting previews as we break down the board and go through our favorite games of the day.
