How to change your Nickname in Splatoon 3
Splatoon 3 offers players a lot of customization features, especially when it comes to giving players the ability to personalize their Inklings and Octalings.

Names are a core element of any online multiplayer experience, being the first thing other players see during matchmaking, and Splatoon 3 is no stranger to that fact. That’s why Nintendo is offering gamers the chance to change their nicknames in their latest shooter title.
Today’s guide will explain how fans can change their nicknames in Splatoon 3.
Changing a nickname in Splatoon 3
Splatoon 3 players cannot change their characters’ nicknames from the start. If you plan to change your in-game nickname, there are a few requirements and things you need to keep in mind.
- Before you can access the method of changing nicknames in the shooter, you must first complete the Splatoon 3 tutorial, which is performed after completing a Turf Battle. Once the tutorial is complete, you’ll need to make your way to the Battle Lobby. Go to the screen next to the elevator and activate it.
- Clicking on it will take you to a menu that gives you the option to Edit Splashtag, Get Materials, Battle Logs, and Change Nickname. If you select the appropriate option, you must choose a name that is 10 characters long.
- It is important to note that certain words are prohibited, especially if they are considered profane by the game’s moderators. If you bypass this rule, you’re likely to be banned in the future if another player reports you for using an inappropriate name.
- Along with the nickname, your ID number also changes, which is why you cannot change your nickname at any time in Splatoon 3. Once it’s changed, you’ll have to wait about 30 days to change it again.
- Nicknames aren’t the only thing you can customize. The shooter allows you to get your hands on different titles and decorations as you reach milestones in the shooter, which allow you to customize your splashtags even further.
Currently, nicknames are the only customization feature that requires players to wait 30 days to change them. All other cosmetic splash tag features can be edited at any time and as many times as needed.
