How to change your Spotify username

(Pocket-lint) – If you want to change your Spotify username, you can do it without a brand new account. However, it’s not immediately obvious how to do it, so we’re here to walk you through the steps to changing your username.

However, it’s worth noting that your username and display name are different things. If you’re having trouble signing in, using your email address is the best way to access your account.

Your display name is what appears on your profile and what others can see of your public playlists when you share them. So if you want to update that, follow these steps.

How to change your Spotify username on your phone

You can change your Spotify profile name in several ways. You can do this from the Spotify app, Spotify web player, or from the desktop app.

If you have the Spotify app installed on your phone, follow these steps to change your display name:

1. Open the Spotify app
2. Click the gear icon in the top right to go to the settings menu
3. Click on “View Profile”
4. Then “edit profile” under your display name
5. Tap on your username, just edit it and enter a new one
6. Click save when satisfied

How to change your Spotify username using the app

Changing your Spotify name on the desktop app is just as easy as it is on mobile, maybe even easier.

1. Click on your profile name in the top right of the app to access the drop down menu
2. From there, click Profile
3. Then just click on your name and edit it
4. Then click Save when done

How to change your username on the internet

Spotify’s web player isn’t just a useful way to listen to music and podcasts when you’re away from your computer and don’t have your phone with you. It can also be used for other things like changing your username.

1. First go to the Spotify web player site and login
2. Click on your profile name in the top right of the app to access the drop down menu
3. From there, click Profile
4. Then just click on your name and edit it
5. Then click Save when done
