How to Charge Your DualSense Controller While Your PS5 Is in Rest Mode

Charging your DualSense controller with your PS5 in sleep mode is a small but invaluable skill. Here’s how you can do it.

When you’re deep into an epic boss fight, the last thing you want is for your controller to die and take your character with it. By default, the PS5 will not charge your DualSense controller while it is in sleep mode. But when your PS5 is working hard, so are you, and you’ll need your controller to be by your side.

To minimize the chance of your controller going dead while trying to use it, it’s a good idea to set up your PS5 to charge your DualSense controller when it’s in sleep mode.

However, if you charge your DualSense controller while your PS5 is in sleep mode, you don’t have to worry about your controller dying midway or sitting very close to the screen every time you’re ready for your next gaming session scope.
