Potions Permission puts you in the shoes of an alchemist from the capital city who has just moved to the island of Moonbury. During your stay in Moonbury, you’ll be in charge of the local clinic, where you’ll brew potions to cure the townsfolk of a variety of ailments.
But before you can brew anything, you need to explore the island to gather ingredients. But when you’re not busy, take your time to walk around town and chat with the villagers. You might end up dating one of them. In this guide we will tell you everything you need to know about dating in Potion Permit and how to romance Xiao, one of the six dateable characters in the game.
How to date Xiao
Xiao seems to be the perfect match for anyone who appreciates a hardworking, peaceful man; However, there’s work to be done if you want to romance this guy.
First you need to bond with Xiao by becoming his friend. To date this guy, you need to get his friendship to level three and complete all of his character’s quests. Once you complete all of Xiao’s quests, you need to buy a moon brooch and gift it to him.
Giving him the brooch will trigger a special cutscene where the two of you become a couple. After that, you unlock the date and you can take Xiao on dates once a day.
How to become Xiao’s friend
Now that you know the requirements to date Xiao, you need to learn how to be his boyfriend.
There is two ways to increase your friendship levell with characters in Potion Permit: you can talk to them once a day and you can give them Moon carnations.
Talk to someone approach
Talking to someone is an easy and inexpensive way to increase friendship levels. In order to talk to a character, you must first find and approach them so that you can interact with them. Then select the chat option. Once the conversation is over, your friendship meter will automatically increase.
You can talk to a character as many times as you like; However, this interaction only increases the friendship bar once per day.
The best you can do is Make talking to Xiao part of your daily routineso when you’re out of health or stamina, or you’re done gathering resources, go to the town hall and pay Xiao a visit.
Moon Cloves approach
Moon Carnations are items you can give to others to increase your friendship with them. Giving away Moon Cloves is excellent because This interaction fills a higher portion of the friendship bar than just talking to someone. The only downside is that getting Moon Cloves is quite difficult since you get one for every person you successfully heal in the clinic. You will also get a Moon Carnation by completing certain quests.
Where can I find Xiao?
As previously explained, Xiao is usually located on the ground floor of City Hall. This building is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Quest #1 “The Book Hunt”

After maxing out Xiao’s friendship for the first time, read the bulletin board where you’ll see a notice for Rue. In it, he invites her to check out his newly arrived books.
To trigger this quest, go to City Hall every day between Monday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Once there, a cutscene begins where Rue arrives, but she has no interest in any of the books there. It’s your responsibility to find a book that Rue likes more.
To do this, visit Lucke at the farmhouse and he will give you a book to give to Xiao.
Give the book to Xiao to complete this quest. After that, Xiao’s friendship level two will be unlocked.
Quest #2 “A helping hand”
- Requirement: Max out Xiao’s second friendship level
- how to trigger it: Visit the Town Hall from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m
After reaching Xiao’s second friendship level, you can visit City Hall from Monday to Saturday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to watch a cutscene.
Once the cutscene is over, you’ll unlock Xiao’s friendship level three.
Quest #3 “A Token of Appreciation”
- Requirement: Max out Xiao’s third friendship level
- how to trigger it: Visit the town hall every weekday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m
Things are going well with Xiao, but you’re not in the romance field yet. When you’ve maxed out Xiao’s friendship for the third time, go to City Hall between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM on any day.
Once there, head upstairs to watch a cutscene where the mayor will give you a sealed envelope to give to Xiao.
Find Xiao and give him the envelope, then do whatever is on your daily schedule and return home. Another cutscene will play before you can go inside, and the quest will end after that.
Task #4 “Rekindled Memories”
- Requirement: Complete all of Xia’s friendship quests

Now that your relationship with Xiao is strong enough, you can gift him a moon brooch to seal the deal. These brooches are sold in Silky Stitch Tailors for five Moon Cloves.
Find Xiao and gift him the brooch to watch a cutscene. After that, you can take him on dates once a day.
