How to Fix It When YouTube Comments Aren’t Showing Up

This article explains what might be preventing YouTube comments from showing for you, either as a viewer or as a channel, and what you can do to fix the problem.

Why can’t I see comments on YouTube videos?

There are a number of reasons you might not see comments on YouTube videos, including:

  • channel settings
  • youtube itself
  • internet connection
  • Conflict with browser extension

Luckily, most of the possible causes and how to fix them are relatively easy to check. So if you watch YouTube but don’t see comments, here are a few things to keep in mind:

How to fix YouTube comments not loading

  1. First, make sure the video has comments enabled. Channels or even YouTube itself can disable comments for a video. In this case, it should say “Comments are disabled” just below the video description and channel name, where the comments section usually starts. You can also check other videos to see if comments on those appear instead.

  2. Try reloading the webpage by clicking either Reload next to the web browser’s address bar, press or Command+R on a Mac or Ctrl+R on a PC.

  3. Check your internet connection. If it’s too weak, it can cause video comments not to load. This is unlikely because if the video loads, it’s probably not your connection, but it’s so easy to check that it doesn’t take much time.

  4. If you’re using an app instead of a web browser, close and reopen the app to see if it solves the problem.

  5. Check Twitter account from YouTube or try the downdetector youtube page to see if the youtube site itself has problems. If so, all you can do is wait for YouTube to sort things out in the end.

  6. Make sure your web browser or app is up to date, otherwise download the latest version.

  7. Disable web browser extensions to see if some kind of extension conflict is the root cause.

  8. Clear your browser’s cache. If the cache is corrupt or your browser insists on using the cache instead of reloading the page, you may not see the latest version of the page.

  9. If all else fails, try restarting your device.

Why aren’t comments appearing on my YouTube channel?

If you can’t see comments on your own channel but can see them on others, the problem is most likely because you’re connected to your own channel in some way. It could be a simple wrong setting, YouTube tampering or flagging of content. Here’s how you can find out what’s going on and how to fix it:

How to fix YouTube comments not appearing on your videos

  2. Make sure comments are enabled. choose yours User Account Icon in the upper right corner, followed by YouTube Studio. 3. YouTube may have automatically marked some of your videos as “For Kids”, which disables comments per COPPA guidelines. open yours YouTube Studio and select contentsthen select a video and select details. Scroll down to Audience and make sure Yes, it’s made for kids is not selected.

  4. Your entire channel may also have been automatically set to “For Kids” by YouTube. You can try to adjust this by opening YouTube Studio and select settings > channel > Advanced settings. Then on the page, check if your channel is set to “For Kids” and if possible change it to ” No, set this channel as not made for children. If you’re unable to make these changes, you may need to file a complaint with YouTube to try to resolve the issue.

FAQ

  • Why are my YouTube comments appearing on other websites?

This is most likely due to Google search which, when querying your name, can link to the comments you left on a YouTube video. You can ask Google to remove the results, but they probably won’t do anything if the information shared isn’t considered confidential. If you want to prevent your comments from appearing elsewhere online, it’s best to delete them at the source.

  • Why can’t I see some replies to my YouTube comment?

Most likely, YouTube flagged some replies as spam or inappropriate and automatically hidden them. Comments marked in this way can be hidden again at the discretion of the video uploader.

  • Why are my YouTube comments disappearing after I’m signed out?

If you’re signed in, YouTube will prioritize your own comments for you during the course of a video, but if you’re signed out, they won’t be prioritized – likely resulting in them being moved further down the page. If you’ve just left a comment, try reorganizing the Recent Comments section first to see if that makes your comment easier to find. If you can see your comments on a video when you’re logged in but not on the same video when you’re logged out, it’s also possible that the video uploader has hidden your comments.
