What does it mean when Minecraft says Separated because of world corruption

When Minecraft says a world is corrupt, it means the files of the world you created have been corrupted. There are a variety of reasons for this, from hard drive crashes to forced shutdowns, and anything in between can corrupt your world in Minecraft.

However, this does not mean that every single file of your world is corrupt, there are some files that contain all the information about your world that can be used to restore your old world. Check the solutions mentioned later. We showed how to use these files to restore the corrupted world.

To fix Minecraft Corrupted World, you can try any of the following solutions.

  1. Generate the corrupted world using the JSON file
  2. Create a new world and copy the old game files
  3. Use backup and restore
  4. Reset Minecraft
  5. Troubleshoot clean boot

Let’s talk about it in detail.

1]Generate the corrupted world with the JSON file

A JSON file contains information about the corrupted world. We need to get the information from the JSON file and see if that helps. Follow the prescribed steps to do the same.

  1. Open Minecraft.
  2. Go to the world that has been corrupted and then click Edit.
  3. Now click on the Export world generation settings Button to create the JSON file that we will use later.
  4. Then click the Create new world button and then More World Options.
  5. You must click import settings, which will launch File Explorer.
  6. Type in the address bar %Application Data% and press Enter.
  7. Go to .minecraft > saves.
  8. Open the world that is corrupted.
  9. begin worldgen_settings_export.json.

After generating the world, check if the problem persists.

2]Create a new world and copy the old game files

If exporting the information from the JSON file didn’t work for you, try creating a new world and copying the old game files to it. This solution should do the job for you regardless of the Minecraft version you’re using. Follow the prescribed steps to do the same.

  1. Open Minecraft and create a new world.
  2. Once a new world has been created, open Run, type %Application Data% and click OK.
  3. Next go to .minecraft > saves.
  4. Then open the world that has been corrupted.
  5. Seek level.dat, level.dat_mcr, level.dat_old and session.lock. Some of the files may be missing from the corrupted world folder, no need to worry.
  6. Copy and paste these files into the new world folder.

Finally start the new world and hopefully your problem will be solved.

3]Use backup and restore

Some users were able to backup the folder even after it got corrupted. We should try the same thing, backup our old world and restore it to the new one. First, open Minecraft, select the corrupted world and click Edit. Then click the create backups Button. This will create a folder called Backups inside the corrupted world folder.

You then need to copy and paste the folder into the new world. Reopen Minecraft, edit the new world and click on the Open Backup Folder option. Follow the on-screen instructions to add the folder.

4]Reset Minecraft

If your worlds keep getting corrupted even after you create a new one, there may be something wrong with the Minecraft app on your computer. We’re going to reset Minecraft and see if that works.

There are different ways to do the same, but first let’s see how you can do the same using Windows Settings.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Apps > Apps & Features.
  3. Search for Minecraft.
  4. Windows11: Click on the three vertical dots and select Advanced options. Windows 10: Select the app and click Advanced options.
  5. Click the Reset button.

Allow the app to reset. You can also go %Application Data from Run, then onto the .Minecraft folder and delete resources, bin, modsand config Binder. Update Minecraft now from the Microsoft Store.

Both methods can do the job for you.

5]Clean boot bug fix

There are many other applications that can interfere with Minecraft and damage your world. We can’t just name an app without conclusive evidence. So let’s perform a clean boot to narrow down the possibility and figure out the culprit. You must keep all Minecraft related processes along with Microsoft’s. Then you have to activate processes manually to find the troublemaker. Once you know the culprit, just delete it and your problem will be solved. You can then create a new world and restore your files from the previous games.

Hopefully you can solve the problem with the solutions mentioned here.
