One of the latest additions is a currency called Conch Shells. These items have a unique function within them turn 3so here is everything players need to know.

What are clam shells?

New for turn 3 are Conch Shells, a type of currency that can only be earned during Splatfest weekend events. Thankfully, these are relatively easy to obtain, although they can only be collected for a limited time. They serve a dual purpose as they are a currency that can be spent at a specific merchant, but they are also used to count which ones Splatoon Team is the ultimate winner of the Splatfest with which the team has collected the most.

Before a player can start earning Conch Shells, they must commit to one of the three Splatfest teams, which will be possible once the Sneak Peek update is available. Players should look for a new booth to join a side upon arrival in Splatsville. At this point, players should jump into a PvP match like Turf War or Salmon Run cooperative mode, and as they increase their catalog level, conch shells will be earned. The first wins of the day also give bonus XP, which should help earn clam shells faster.

How to use clam shells

With a bunch of Conch Shells, players can head back to the Splatsville hub to find a new machine called the Shell-Out. This is only available during the Splatfest event, but this is where players can spend their Conch Shells on various rewards instead of spending the usual coins. There is a chance to spend 1 Conch Shell to get a random reward, although what players get can be anything.

One thing to note is that clam shells are not saved once the Splatfest event is over. So while they’re also used to determine which team is ultimately the winner, players should make sure they’re all spent before Splatfest ends, or lose them outright.

turn 3 is available for Nintendo Switch.
