How to get the ‘Best’ Ending in New Tales from the Borderlands

As with most narrative games that offer branching options, New stories from the BorderlandsIt has what is called a “best” ending. Get the good ending new stories means the three main characters – plus murder-robot companion L0U13 – survive and start their own consulting firm that uses skateboard scoring to boost morale in other companies.

To keep everyone alive, you must Complete the game with a skateboard score of at least 75%. Your skateboarding score depends on successfully completing certain quick-time events and choosing the right dialogue options. Read on to learn some tips and see our decisions during some obscure events that we used to increase our team’s skateboarding score.

Most of the time, choose the friendly option

Selecting the friendly option seems obvious to improve team chemistry, but that’s it border areas Universe, so be forgiven if you think otherwise. In most cases yes, opt for the nice and friendly dialogue option. If your team chemistry doesn’t seem to be improving, quickly return to the menu and choose another option.

When choosing dialogue, consider the character’s individual passions. anu wants to prevent death and heal society. Octavio enjoys tacos, but also wants to create a better image for themselves. Fran really wants revenge on Susan Coldwell. Keep these in mind as you progress through the story and choose the option that makes the character happier.

Defeat the devourer and save Juniper

Defeating the Devourer requires you to successfully complete the related quick-time events, which improves your team’s coordination. Saving Juniper gets a bit more difficult as you need to improve your skateboard score before on the way to the vault. L0U13 gave us a score of 6 out of 10 skateboards, which seemed high enough to save Juniper.

Here are the main dialogue options we chose from Chapter 2 of Episode 2:


  • Either Octavio’s or Fran’s plan resulted in us rescuing Juniper.
  • Use the guards to your advantage.


  • Convince Anu that her efforts can prevent deaths.
  • Select the “Do it for us” dialogue option to convince Fran to help you.
  • Please tell. I need this.”


  • Don’t betray Octavio

Reject the shard

Choose the option to reject the shard while the floating green fireball talks to the lady trapped in a mechanical arm.  Two other people watch in horror as the world could end.

Choosing to decline the shard will lead to more opportunities to strengthen bonds between characters. Successfully complete the quick time events for the trio to work together and defeat Anahatium Susan.

We chose the following dialogue options in Chapter 6 of Episode 5:

  • Reject the shard
  • [Mouth fart]
  • I wish you got the kill, Fran.
  • The Almighty Skateboard.
