monday.com is an excellent project management platform. With it, you can create multiple workspaces that can contain dashboards, tables, charts, Kanban, Gantt, maps, forms, file galleries, and much more. monday.com also offers automations and integrations.

One such integration is Google Calendar. If, like me, you rely on Google Calendar to keep your busy life organized, you might want to integrate these two platforms. With this integration, you can sync all your items and tasks with the external calendar so you can conveniently view everything in one place.

Google Calendar monday.com integration offers three different recipes for integration:

  • When an item is created or updated, monday.com creates an event in Google Calendar and syncs future changes to the board.
  • When a person is assigned to someone, create an event in Google Calendar and sync future changes from that board.
  • When an event is created in Google Calendar, create an item and sync future changes from Google Calendar.

Which recipe you choose depends on your workflow with both services. Remember, if you have a very busy monday.com board (or a very busy google calendar) if you choose the wrong option you could end up with a mess in your hands. So make sure you know what you need from this integration before proceeding.

What you need to integrate

The only things you need for this integration are both a monday.com account and a Google calendar to sync with. That’s it… let’s integrate.

How to integrate monday.com and Google Calendar

First, make sure you’re signed into your Google account associated with the calendar you want to integrate. Once you’re signed in, go to your monday.com account and sign in there as well.

From your monday.com account, click the Integrate (Figure A).

The monday.com integrations are accessed from here.

In the resulting window (Figure B), find the Google Calendar entry and click on it.

The Google Calendar integration is in the bottom row, third from the right.

In the next popup (Figure C), make sure you click on the recipe you want to use as a sync option.

Choose one of these three sync options for your integration.

Select your recipe and click Add to Board. You will then be prompted to connect to your Google Calendar (Figure D).

Connect monday.com to Google Calendar.

You will then be prompted to select the Google account for the integration (Figure E).

If you have more than one Google account, make sure you choose the right one for this integration.

Go through the permissions wizard for your Google account and finally, when prompted, click Event to configure how you want the integration to work (Figure F).

Figure F

You must first configure how the event will appear in Google Calendar.

This will open another popup (Figure G) where you need to configure how fields are populated from the current board.

Figure G

Configure fields for Google Calendar entries.

After adding the required fields, click Done, then click Add to Board.

And that’s it. You have successfully integrated monday.com with Google Calendar. If at any point you want to disable the integration, you can go back and click the ON/OFF slider (Figure H) to the OFF position to stop synchronizing.

Figure H

Our integration is currently enabled.

Enjoy this new sync between your monday.com boards and your Google Calendar.
