How to listen to podcasts on Amazon Echo

Podcasts are a great way to listen to topics that matter to you. Amazon recognizes this by allowing Alexa to connect your Echo to podcast services from Amazon Music, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Pandora, iHeartRadio, SiriusXM, Tidal, and TuneIn.

Connect your podcast services to your Echo using Alexa
The first thing you need to do is connect your podcast services to your Echo. Here’s how:

open that Amazon Alexa app and select More

Click or tap settings

Choose Music & Podcasts

Click or tap on it Link New Service

Select your podcast service by choice

click Activate to use

Sign in to your account and grant the appropriate permissions
Now all you have to do is say something like, “Alexa, play (podcast name) on (podcast service).” If that’s what you’ve been looking for Hubermann laboratory On Spotify, you would say, “Alexa, play Hubermann laboratory on Spotify.”
How to listen to podcasts on Amazon Echo – Set a default provider
What if you have more than one service linked and don’t want to specify the service every time you want to listen to podcasts on Amazon Echo?
A quick change of settings will set your default podcast service, so you don’t need to name the service.
- Open the Amazon Alexa app and select More
- Click or tap settings
- Choose Music & Podcasts
- click standard services from the top of the list
- Choose the default app in the Podcasts section and select your service
Now when you want to play a podcast, all you have to do is provide the podcast name and it will default to your chosen service.
Using the previous example, you would now say, “Alexa, play Hubermann laboratory.” This time, your selected default podcast service will play it.
Control your podcasts from your Echo device
Alexa makes controlling your podcasts a breeze. Some examples are:
- “Alexa, play Hubermann laboratory.”
- “Alexa, pause Hubermann laboratory.”
- “Alexa, play Hubermann laboratory.” – This resumes the paused podcast
- “Alexa, stop Hubermann laboratory in five minutes.”
- “Alexa, play the next (or previous) episode.”
- “Alexa, fast forward (or rewind) two minutes.”
- “Alexa, increase (or decrease) the volume by 10%.”
- “Alexa, stop Hubermann laboratory in three minutes.”
