How to create folders on PS5? If your PS5 console’s firmware is up to date, you now have access to gamelists, more commonly referred to as folders. This feature allows you to organize your games into groups, making your collection nice and tidy. In this PS5 guidewe explain how to create PS5 folders to make your library look its best.
How to create folders on PS5
If you want to know how to create folders (or gamelists) on PS5, follow the steps below and you’re good to go.
Make sure your PS5’s system software is up to date
The PS5 did not launch with the ability to create folders. To ensure the feature is available, check that your console’s firmware is up to date. Go to Settings > System > System software and then select System software update and settings. Select “Update system software” and then “Update via the Internet”. Your PS5 will tell you if your console is up to date and if not, it will download the latest update.
Go to your collection in the games library
Once your PS5 console is up to date, go to the Games Library, the rightmost icon on the home screen. Next, navigate to your collection with a press of R1. This page shows you all games on your account. From here we can start creating folders on PS5.
Choose your games
There are two ways to start creating a folder on PS5. First, you can highlight the circular icon for creating a playlist on the left side of the screen. Second, you can highlight a game’s icon, press Options and select Add to game list > Create game list.
Both options will take you to a selection screen where you can tick all the games you want to add to your folder. Scroll through your games collection and use X to select the games you want in your folder. When you have made all your selections, click the Add button on the right.
Next you will be asked to name your folder. Enter a name that best identifies the games you’ve selected so you know what’s in that folder. If you are happy with the name, confirm it and the folder will be created for you.
Enjoy your new folder
The playlists or folders you create appear at the top of your collection in the Games Library. Select a folder and you will see all selected games in alphabetical order.
You can add a game to multiple folders and create a maximum of 15 folders. Use playlists to organize your collection!
