Overwatch 2 supports cross-progression, meaning players can merge their previous Overwatch accounts on console and PC into one Battle.net profile. Account merging allows players to take their hero items, stats, and credits from the original game and bring them into Overwatch 2. This guide will walk you through the steps to merge your accounts in Overwatch 2 and enable cross-progression on the platforms of your choice.
How to merge accounts
Before you can merge your accounts, you should set up a Battle.net account even if you haven’t used one in the past. Your Battle.net account is the profile you link all your other accounts to and is required to play Overwatch 2. You can only merge one account per platform, and console accounts can only be linked to one Battle.net account at a time. Before merging, make sure you are logged into the accounts you want to play on.
Merge accounts on PC
One way to merge accounts in Overwatch 2 is to log into your Battle.net account on PC and then connect to your console accounts through Settings. To merge accounts on PC, follow these steps:
- Sign in to Battle.net in your web browser.
- Click your name in the top right and select Account Settings from the drop-down list.
- Choose Connections from the list on the left. Here you can connect and merge your console accounts.
- Select the platform you want to connect to your Battle.net account and select +Connect.
Once you have selected a console account to connect, you will be redirected to the appropriate website to log into your profile and complete the connection. You can merge Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch accounts with your Battle.net account on PC. After you connect an account, you must wait a cooldown of 365 days before you can change it again. So make sure you connect with the right ones.
After connecting to the desired console accounts on Battle.net, you need to confirm everything on the console page. Launch Overwatch 2 on your connected console, log in and select the Merge Account option. Press Next and follow the prompts to confirm the accounts to be connected are correct. Once you’ve done that, you should have successfully merged the accounts in Overwatch 2. Your stats and items may not appear in your game right away, so just be patient and try again later.
Merge accounts on console
Alternatively, players can also connect to their Battle.net account from the console page. This also works for players who didn’t previously have a Battle.net account. Follow these steps to merge accounts on the console:
- Log into Overwatch 2 on the console and follow the prompts.
- If you see a QR code, scan it with your mobile device.
- Enter the code displayed on the console to create or connect to your Battle.net account.
- Close the game and log back in to confirm your linked accounts and complete the merge.
Once you have successfully merged your accounts in Overwatch 2, you will have access to your account history as well as any skins and items you unlocked in the original Overwatch. Those with unused credits from the first game will also receive Legacy Credits after merging accounts. For more guides and tips, head over to our Overwatch 2 page.
