That long rumour Nintendo Switch OLED Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition has finally been confirmed. This limited-edition model of the best-selling handheld/home console hybrid will commemorate the latest mainline entry in the popular Zelda franchise. And we have all the pre-order details you need below.

Nintendo has already released several special edition models of the Nintendo Switch. Previous versions included consoles celebrating the launch of turn 3 And Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, Tears of the Kingdom is arguably the biggest Switch exclusive release of the past five years, so we expect the accompanying limited-edition Nintendo Switch OLED model to be a hugely popular collector’s item.

The console will likely sell out immediately, and scalpers will no doubt be sniffing around as well. So if you are interested in this limited edition Nintendo Switch OLED, we strongly encourage you to place your pre-order as soon as possible. So far we’ve seen pre-orders from Best Buy and Target, with GameStop also taking pre-orders, but only in-store and not online.

The Nintendo Switch OLED Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition is set to release on April 28th, exactly two weeks before the launch of the Breath of the Wild sequel. And don’t worry if you miss the opportunity to pre-order a console. Additional stock may become available on release date.

Nintendo is going out of its way for this launch, releasing a snazzy Collector’s Edition and a new Link amiibo figure alongside a new limited-edition Switch OLED. The Nintendo Switch OLED Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition is pretty self-explanatory. It is a limited edition Nintendo Switch OLED system that will be released in just a few weeks to coincide with the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Said to retail for $359, this special-edition console is just a regular Nintendo Switch OLED with a slick Zelda theme. There are no hardware changes whatsoever. It does have two unique Joy-Con controllers though, both are gold colored but one has a green pattern on the bottom half and the other has a contrasting white design.

Not only the Joy-Cons have been revised. The back of the main Switch OLED unit has been adorned with a Tears of the Kingdom sticker. Also, the included docking station has been adorned with gold elements and an intricate icon that includes the iconic Zelda Triforce logo.

It’s also important to note that the console doesn’t actually come with a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. While this may seem extremely bizarre, Nintendo has form in this area. Last year’s Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED also didn’t come with a copy of this game, nor did the previously mentioned Splatoon and Animal Crossing models. We’re not entirely sure of the reason behind this decision, but you’ll need to purchase Tears of the Kingdom separately. Luckily we have one Pre-order instructions also for the base game.

As mentioned, alongside the new Tears of the Kingdom-themed cosmetic look, this is the same awesome Nintendo Switch OLED console that first launched in October 2021. That means you get all of the model’s improvements, including a larger 7-inch OLED display, a wider adjustable stand, a refresh dock with a wired internet connection, and 64GB of internal storage. It’s a serious step up compared to the regular Nintendo Switch or the budget-friendly one Nintendo Switch Lite.
