How to preorder Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition — and new Link amiibo

Our latest look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the highly anticipated sequel to Breath of the Wild, came during the last Nintendo Direct. And during this digital presentation, it was also confirmed that Tears of the Kingdom will receive a snazzy Collector’s Edition and a new Link amiibo figure will be released along with the game.

Tears of the Kingdom, due out exclusively for Nintendo Switch on May 12, will accompany the link on another epic quest in the land of Hyrule. This time, the focus seems to be on exploring the heavens, and it’s certain that evil Gannon and Princess Zelda will be involved in some way.

With launch just a few months away, Nintendo is now stepping up its Tears of the Kingdom pre-orders, and the Collector’s Edition of the game is already generating a lot of interest from Zelda fans. For reference, the Breath of the Wild Deluxe Edition sold out very quickly in stores and has now become a very hard-to-find item for collectors – and we expect the same to happen here.

The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition will retail for $129, while the base game will cost $69 (it’s the first Nintendo game with this higher price tag). A new Link amiibo will be released on the same day and will cost US$15, which is the standard price of an amiibo figure.

It seems quite likely that you’ll need to reserve a Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition and the new Link amiibo if you want any chance of getting them at launch. So we’ve put together this handy guide to help you avoid scalper prices. Here’s everything you need to know to pre-order Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition.

Where to pre-order Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition?

As of Friday, November 10, no retailers are currently accepting pre-orders for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition for Nintendo Switch. Walmart offered an opportunity to snag a copy earlier today, but the limited stock ran out quickly.

We’re keeping a close eye on retailers to make sure you don’t miss your chance to pre-order a Collector’s Edition. Best Buy, Walmart, and GameStop are already sold out, but don’t worry, we’re still expecting more pre-order opportunities in the near future. Make sure to bookmark this page as we will update it as we receive new stock information.

Starting Friday, February 10th, the new Link amiibo that will be released with the game Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be available for pre-order at Best Buy (opens in new tab). It costs $15 and unlocks an exclusive cosmetic skin for Link’s Glider Tool.

The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition is expected to release May 12 alongside the base game and will retail for $129 – but we suspect unprepared players will be faced with the grim prospect of coughing up some more, after resellers have siphoned off much of the available inventory (but we’re here to prevent you are).

While the Breath of the Wild Collector’s Edition featured a replica of Link’s legendary master sword, the Tears of the Kingdom version is a little more low-key. It includes a physical copy of the full game, an artbook (unconfirmed hardcover or not), a steel book cover with custom artwork, an Iconart steel poster, and a set of pins.

That’s a very decent range of extras, and we definitely think this collector’s edition justifies its premium. There will also be a brand new Link amiibo figure that can be used in-game to access materials and weapons, as well as an exclusive cosmetic skin for Link’s glider tool.
