How to read Instagram messages without being seen

Instagram is one of the most popular platforms that we use on a daily basis. Besides sharing pictures and videos, the app allows you to chat with your friends.

When you open a message someone sent, it shows you’ve opened it by adding a “seen” tag under the message. Sometimes you may not want to read the message without the other person knowing that you opened the message.

There are some tricks that can help you read Instagram messages without being seen.

notifications

The easiest way to read Instagram messages without being seen is through notifications. All you have to do is swipe down on the message sent by the user to view the message in detail.

This may not work if the other person has sent many or very long messages.

You can use “Notification History” to check previous notifications if you have already removed the message notification. To do this, you need to go to the settings and search for “Notification history”.

Use airplane mode

The easiest way to read Instagram messages is to use Airplane mode on your phone.

• First, enable Airplane mode on your smartphone.
• Now open Instagram and read the message you want to review.

If you’ve read the message and still want to avoid the “seen” tag, do the following before turning off Airplane mode.

• Click and hold the Instagram app icon to get the app information.
• Now click on “Force stop” or “Disable”.

Once you’ve done that, you can turn off airplane mode. Note that as soon as you open Instagram, the other person will know you’ve read their message.

With the above method, if you open Instagram after turning off Airplane mode, the message will be marked as “seen”. You can use this trick if you still want to use Instagram after viewing the message.

• Turn off mobile data and Wi-Fi on your smartphone.
• Now open Instagram and open the message you want to read.
• Once you read the message, go to settings and log out of Instagram.
• You can now log into the app and it won’t show that the message has been seen.

restrict account

Another trick you can follow is to restrict accounts before reading their message.

• Open Instagram on your smartphone.
• Now go to the profile of the person whose messages you want to read.
• Then click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
• Now click on “Restrict”.
• Finally, click the “Message” button on the user’s profile.
• Once you’re done, you can go back to their profile and remove the restriction.
