How to Set up a Screensaver on Your Android

  • You can set up a screensaver on your Android phone to display while it is charging.
  • Your Android’s screensaver can be a clock, a changing gradient, or a selection of your favorite photos.
  • To turn on your Android’s screensaver, go to the “Display” menu.

Computers used to have screensavers to keep your monitor from getting burned in after hours of displaying the same desktop or app. That’s not really an issue anymore – modern screens resist screen burn-in, and your screen usually goes dark when you’re not using it – but screensavers are still fun to look at and customize.

Android phones have had a screensaver feature for years. Here’s how to set it up and turn it on.

How to set up a screensaver on Android

3. Select the type of screen saver you want. You should see at least three different options:

  • watch lets your screensaver show the current time. If you select it and then tap Customize, you can choose whether it’s a digital or analog clock.
  • Colours turns your screensaver into a red-blue-green gradient that shifts and changes over time.
  • photos will shuffle your screensaver through every photo album on your phone.
  • Certain apps may add more screensaver options.

4. Once you’ve selected a screensaver, scroll down and tap on it when to start.

5. Choose when you want your screensaver to activate: wherever your phone is load and not in use when it is docked and not in use, or both.

After you enable the screensaver feature of your android, it will be activated whenever your android screen expires. You can change how long it takes for the screen to expire by returning to the Display page and selecting screen timeout.
