How to use Discord on Xbox S, Xbox X, or Xbox One

Discord is one of the most popular chat apps for gamers. It’s an easy way to get into voice chats too. While Microsoft has been beta testing Discord on its Xbox consoles for months, the full rollout is finally live. So, in honor of the event, we’re going to show you how to connect your Xbox to Discord and join voice channels.

This is a lengthy process, but you can set up Discord for Xbox on PC or mobile. Here’s what you need to get started:

• The official Discord app on your PC or mobile.
• The official Xbox app on your phone or the Xbox Game Bar on your PC.
• An Xbox signed into your Xbox account.
• Finally, you need to unlink your Xbox account from Discord and unlink your Discord account from Xbox. Microsoft says this requires a new link.
• note — If you linked for the first time after September 13, 2022, you do not need to complete the step above.

This is the easier option in our opinion as you can do this almost anywhere.

• Open the Discord app on your phone.
• Click the three line menu button in the top left corner and then click your profile picture in the bottom right corner.
• Beat links and then the ADD button in the top right corner.
• Choose Xbox Possibility. Follow the instructions and sign in with your Xbox account to link the two accounts.
• It should be. Done once. You can use Discord voice chat on Xbox.
• alternate method — Open the Xbox app and click on your profile picture. Press the cogwheel in the upper-right corner, then select Connected Accounts. Tap on the Discord option and follow the instructions.
• note — When I tested this method, when connecting to Xbox via Discord, my Xbox app also automatically connects to Discord. We don’t think you need to do both connection processes, but we’ve written both just in case.

• Open Discord on your PC. Click the gear icon next to your profile picture in the lower-left corner to go to Settings.
• Click on the left margin links.
• There are a few icons at the top. Locate the Xbox icon and click on it.
• Follow the instructions and sign in with your Xbox account to link the two accounts. It’s a pretty linear process.
• note — You will be redirected to your browser to log in to everything. When you’re done, you’ll need to return to the Discord app to authorize the connection to the Xbox.
• That’s it. You are set up and ready to go.
• alternate method – Press Windows key + G to open the Xbox Game Bar. Push the settings cog along the top bar and click accounts. Click the Discord icon and follow the linking instructions.
• note — When I tested this method, when connecting to Xbox via Discord, my Xbox app also automatically connects to Discord. We don’t think you need to do both connection processes, but we’ve written both just in case.

How to join a voice chat with Discord on Xbox

Once you’ve got everything set up, joining a Discord channel is pretty easy. The mobile version is the easiest. The PC version requires a mobile version anyway, so we recommend skipping it.

• Open the Discord app and navigate to the channel you want to join. Tap on it.
• Swipe up on the bottom part where it says Join Voice to reveal the Join on Xbox Possibility. click it
• The Xbox app opens. Select the Xbox you want to use if you have multiple, then tap transmit language Button. The app will tell you it was successful. You are now connected to voice chat.
• You can use the Discord app to adjust things like volume and other settings.

While there is a method that can be used on PC, it is not the best. You’ll need to use your cellphone anyway, so we recommend just using the cellphone version above and skipping this one if you can avoid it.

• Open the Discord app and navigate to the channel you want to join.
• Right-click on it and select the Join on Xbox Button.
• Discord creates a QR code that you scan with your smartphone.
• The QR code will take you to the Xbox app.
• From here, it’s the same as the cell phone tutorial above. Select the Xbox you want to use if you have multiple Xbox consoles connected and click transmit language.
• Once you’re done, you can use Discord to adjust the volume and other settings.
