How to Use Gameslists to Keep Your PS5 Games Organized

The simplicity and convenience of digitally downloading games has led to a massive increase in digital game sales in recent years. And with the release of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, which don’t have a hard drive at all, those sales will continue to grow.

But with a console full of potentially hundreds of digital-only titles, it’s easy to lose track of what games you have. Players need a logical way to sort their titles to avoid getting lost in the backlog forever. This is where playlists come in.

What are playlists on the PS5?

Game Lists on the PS5 allows you to create folders that make it easy to sort your games. These folders are fully customizable so you can organize your games however you like.

You can rename your playlists to sort your titles by genre, year released, or even what you want to play next. You can have up to 15 game lists, each containing up to 100 games.

By default, your games will appear in a list format on your PS5. Sorting your games into folders like this saves you from having to scroll through your entire library to find a single game. And the less time you spend looking for your games, the more time you have to play them!

So if you want to create game lists to organize your PS5 games, here’s how to do it.

How to create a game list

The first thing you should do before creating your own playlists to organize your PS5 is make sure your console is updated. The game list feature was not available at launch. So if you haven’t updated your console since its launch, you may not be able to take advantage of this feature.

To update your PS5, press the PS button on your controller and scroll to Downloads/Uploads. If an update is available, select it and follow the onscreen instructions to install the update.

You will also need to update your PS5 DualSense controller from time to time. You can do this from the console or your PC. Read our guide on how to update your PS5 controller from your PC to learn how.

After successfully updating your PS5, follow the instructions below to curate your playlists.

  1. Open your library by going to your home page, scroll right and select game library.
  2. Scroll right and select your collection.
  3. Choose Create game list icon on the left side of the screen.
  4. Go through your games, choose which ones you want to add to your list and press Add to.
  5. Enter a name for your game list and confirm to create your folder.
  6. To edit the name of your game list, hover over the list and press the option button on your controller.
  7. Choose edit names.

Your game lists appear at the top of the screen when viewing your collection for easy access.

How to add and remove games from a game list

PS5 playlists were created with customization in mind. Therefore, it is very easy to make changes to your game list, e.g. B. Add or remove games. If you want to add a game to your folder, open and select the game list you want to edit + icon on the left.

To remove a game, hover over it, press the burger button on your controller, and select it Remove from game list. You can also start or delete games from this menu.

Consider creating playlists to organize your PS5 as soon as you buy your new console. But that’s not the only thing to focus on on day one. Check out our guide for the first things you should do when you get your PS5.

If your PS5 has gotten a little cluttered and disorganized, creating playlists should be the perfect solution to your problem. It might be a small feature, but it goes a long way in cleaning up and customizing your system to make your gaming experience a little more personal.
