How to Use the Law of Assumption & Start Manifesting Like a Pro

Have you ever wanted something so bad that it felt meant to be you? As if it was always yours? Wanting something is the first step in the manifestation process, but desire alone is not always enough to bring it into reality. You also need faith, and this is where the law of assumption comes in. If you want to take your manifestation skills to the next level, learning how to use the Law of Assumption is a must. After all, what it essentially says is that whatever you believe to be true will eventually become a part of your reality.

This is not to be confused with the infamous law of “attraction” (near, but no cigar). For the past decade, the Law of Attraction has perpetuated the idea that our thoughts become our reality. In other words, if we think positive or negative thoughts, they will manifest in reality. However, the overall effect of this mindset can be counterproductive, especially if it makes your negative thoughts feel like they can grow and materialize. The general definition of the law of attraction is “like attracts like,” which can make you feel like every bad thought that crosses your mind is making bad things happen.

With the Law of Assumption, you don’t have to obsess over how your thoughts shape your reality. Instead, you can enjoy the ride because the Law of Assumption is rooted in the idea that what you want is already preordained for you. And really – who has proof that it *isn’t*? By living life with that confident sense of knowing, you can deal with life’s setbacks, having faith that you are going in the right direction and that eventually everything you want will be yours – in fact, it already is (even if you haven’t already).

What is the Law of Assumption?

The Law of Assumption states that if you believe you already have something, you will have it. By applying the law of assumption to your life goals, you are essentially fooling your mind into believing that everything you want is already yours. Instead of talking about the things you desire, you start feeling what it would feel like to already have them. The Law of Assumption wants you to feel the emotions of achieving something as if you have already achieved it. By taking the time to feel and embody the emotions of your success, you learn how to radiate the energy of that success all around you. And by making the Law of Assumption a standard, unconscious practice of your daily life, you will be shocked at how much stronger your manifestation skills will become.

Nerville Lancelot Goddard, one of the pioneers of the Law of the Ascension, stood by the understanding that nothing exists outside of your own consciousness. He firmly believed that the outside world is simply a projection of your inner reality. In his book The Power of Consciousness (2013) he states: “You must accept the feeling of wish-fulfilment until your acceptance has all the sensual vividness of reality. You have to imagine that you are already experiencing what you desire. That is, you must embrace the feeling of fulfilling your desire until you become obsessed with it and that feeling pushes all other ideas out of your mind.”

In other words, by fully embodying the emotion you would feel if your desires were granted, you put yourself in the best possible position to have those desires fulfilled. And while that may sound strange, vague, or complicated, it’s not as esoteric as it might seem. After all, it works with the understanding that whatever you want is already yours.

How to apply the law of assumption

The application of the assumption law is simple. There is no need for a full-blown ritual of manifestation, because it all starts with a change of perspective. And the more you open your mind to the law of acceptance, the deeper it penetrates your whole way of being. It’s important to make sure your subconscious is on the same page as your conscious mind (which may take a little more time, effort, and practice). So start using the Law of Acceptance right here and now:

  1. Write down your wishes. GFamiliarize yourself with your diary and let your desires run free. Start writing about what you want as if you already have it. You may want several things, but you may only want to focus on one at a time, especially if you are a beginner. Use all five senses (what you see, touch, hear, smell and taste) along with as much specific detail as possible. The more specific you allow yourself to be with this step, the easier it will be to imagine what achieving your desire will feel like.
  2. Imagine how it would feel to have your wish fulfilled. Take a few deep breaths and close your eyes. Once you feel relaxed enough, let your desires flow through you. You can do this step right before bed by lying down on a comfortable surface or just closing your eyes, wherever you are sitting. Wherever you are, let your imagination be as vivid and realistic as possible, and allow your mind, body and heart to feel the excitement of making your wish come true. Imagine how awesome it would feel to receive and fulfill that wish. Get your body glowing with excitement like you just signed the paperwork for your dream home, got an offer for your dream job, or met the love of your life. Imagine how nice it would feel to be focused on your desires and make them happen right before your very eyes, right in this moment. The deeper you can feel these feelings, the deeper your beliefs will settle into your whole being. At this step, let go of any limitations, doubts or pessimism and really let your imagination run wild.
  3. Assume that what you want is already yours. Once you’ve written down your desires and felt the feelings associated with your desire, it’s time to go through the world as if your desire has already been fulfilled. Go about your day knowing that you played your part in making it happen, simply by expressing your desire, feeling the feelings, and changing your assumptions about life. With the Law of Acceptance, you can know in your heart that your desires are already on the way and there is no other possible outcome other than success. As the Law of Assumption states, the outside world is simply a projection of your internal state or consciousness. That is, if you have followed the steps above, it means that your manifestations are about to become a reality.

If you are struggling with the manifestation and are beginning to doubt its power, there is a good chance that the Law of Ascension will take your spiritual and professional practice to the next level. However, surrendering to this belief is a process, so give yourself time to adjust to this new understanding of life. By going about the world with the assumption that everything is going in your favor right now, “fake it ’til you make it,” only you’re doing it in a way that’s powerful with magic. Let’s not forget that your desires are very real, which means there really isn’t anything “fake” about them. Remember – everything you desire desires you.
