How to View Desktop Version of Any Site on Mobile

Websites that implement mobile responsive design make it possible and easy for you to access a mobile-friendly version of their websites. Almost all modern websites do this.


But sometimes you may need to view or use the desktop version of a website. What can you do if this happens – especially if your computer is miles away?

Luckily, there’s a useful setting that lets you view and access the original desktop version of any website on your mobile phone. In this article, we’ll show you how to switch to desktop view while using your favorite Chromium-based mobile browser.


How to enable and disable desktop view in Chrome Mobile Browser

Enabling desktop view in Chrome mobile browser is easy and can be done in two ways. You can either set the desktop view as your default view for all websites or per website you visit.

How to enable desktop view for all websites in Chrome mobile browser

To set desktop view as the default for all websites:

  1. Open Chrome on your phone.
  2. Tap the three dots button in the top right.
  3. Scroll down and tap settings.
  4. Scroll down and tap page settings.
  5. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the menu options and tap desktop site.
  6. Now turn that on Desktop site change, and you are done.

How to enable desktop view for specific websites in Chrome mobile browser

How to switch between mobile and desktop view in Chrome.

  1. Start Chrome.
  2. Go to the website you want to view in desktop mode.
  3. Tap the three points Menu button in the top right corner.
  4. Scroll down the menu options and tap desktop site Crate.

The website will reload in desktop view. To return to mobile view, just tap three points Menu button again and disable that desktop site Crate. We covered how to use Google Chrome as a student.

How to enable and disable desktop view in Edge mobile browser

You can also go to the desktop view in the Microsoft Edge browser. How to do it:

  1. Launch the Edge browser on your phone.
  2. Tap the three points Menu button at the bottom of your screen.
  3. Tap on settings.
  4. From the menu options, tap General.
  5. Tap on Site Display Settings.
  6. Choose Show desktop site as default. When you exit, the page will restart and you can continue surfing in desktop mode.

To return to mobile view, simply repeat steps 1-5 above and select Show mobile page as default.

How to enable and disable desktop view in mobile Firefox browser

There is currently no option to enable desktop view for all websites in the mobile Firefox browser. To enable desktop view for a specific website instead:

  1. Open Firefox on your mobile device.
  2. From the Firefox homepage or website you want to view in desktop mode, tap the three dots button in the top-right corner.
  3. Go down the menu options and turn that on desktop site toggle switch. The website will reload in desktop view.

To return to mobile view, simply reverse the steps above and you’ll be back to normal view.

How to enable and disable desktop view on Brave Mobile

If you’re using the Brave browser, you can also easily switch between mobile and desktop views. You can also make desktop view your default view mode.

How to enable desktop view for all websites in Brave Mobile

To set desktop view as the default for all websites:

  1. Launch the Brave mobile browser.
  2. Tap the three dots menu button in the bottom right corner.
  3. Tap on settings.
  4. Scroll down and tap page settings.
  5. Scroll all the way down and tap desktop site.
  6. Turn those on desktop site Switch.

How to enable desktop view for specific websites on Brave Mobile

To enable desktop view for a specific site in Brave:

  1. Open the Brave browser on your device.
  2. Tap the Three dots button in the lower right corner of your screen.
  3. Go down the menu options and tap desktop site check box. The page will automatically reload in desktop view.

How to enable and disable desktop view on Vivaldi Mobile

There are two ways to enable desktop view on Vivaldi. You can do this from the Vivaldi home page or from the website you want to view in desktop mode.

How to enable desktop view for all websites on Vivaldi Mobile

To open Vivaldi in desktop mode from the home screen:

  1. Open your mobile Vivaldi browser.
  2. If you don’t land on the Home page By default, just tap the home Symbol. This takes you to Vivaldi’s homepage.
  3. Tap the v Menu button in the top right corner.
  4. From the menu options, tap settings.
  5. Scroll all the way down to Web pages section and activate the Always show desktop site toggle switch.

This will set the desktop view as the default for viewing websites in Vivaldi.

How to enable desktop view for specific websites on Vivaldi Mobile

If you want to view a specific website on Vivaldi in desktop view, do the following instead:

  1. Open Vivaldi on your mobile phone.
  2. Go to the specific website that you want to view in desktop mode.
  3. Tap the v Menu button in the top right corner.
  4. Scroll down the menu options and check the desktop site check box. The page will automatically reload in desktop mode.

This option allows you to display different tabs in different website view modes, some in desktop view and others in mobile view.

Regardless of your preferred method, turning off desktop view is the same process. It’s also quick and easy. To do this, just tap the V menu button, scroll down and disable that desktop site check box.

How to enable and disable desktop view on Opera Mobile

It’s also easy to enable desktop view in the Opera browser. Just like Vivaldi, you can do this in two ways; either from the home page or from any website.

How to enable desktop view for all sites on Opera Mobile

To enable desktop view for all sites in Opera:

  1. Open Opera on your mobile device.
  2. Tap yours profile pic in the lower right corner of your screen.
  3. Tap the Settings gear icon.
  4. Scroll all the way down to contents section and tap default user agent.
  5. Choose writing desk.

After exiting, all websites will henceforth be rendered in desktop view by default.

How to enable desktop view for specific websites on Opera Mobile

To enable desktop view for any website:

  1. Start Opera.
  2. Tap the three points Menu button in the top right corner.
  3. Scroll down the menu options and tap desktop site Switch.

To revert to the original mobile view for any of these options, simply tap the three dots menu button in the top right corner and toggle off desktop site Switch.
