But at the heart of all the show’s antics are its extremely lovable characters, who all underwent quite a transformation since we last saw them.
Janine (Emmy-winner Quinta Brunson) breaks up with her longtime boyfriend Tariq (Zack Fox) to find out who she is without him. Her school crush Gregory (Emmy nominee Tyler James Williams) decides to stay with Abbott as a full-time teacher. Meanwhile, the school’s more established teachers were also going through some life-changing things, with Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) getting into the dating game after years of sitting on the sidelines, and Barbara (Emmy-winner Sheryl Lee Ralph) who navigating new teaching technologies and her relationship with her adult daughter.
The longing between Janine and Gregory also continues to blossom, and Season 2 will hopefully give us more of our favorite ship.
