How to watch Bryce Young’s pro day: Time, TV channel & what to expect in Alabama QB’s NFL Draft workout

Before he turns pro, he has his pro day.

Alabama passer Bryce Young is a surefire opponent for the top 5 in this year’s NFL Draft — but where will he go? The Panthers, moving up to No. 1 overall at the start of the offseason, guarantee they’ll take a passer, but as Bryce Young and CJ Stroud battle to be the top overall players selected for this year’s draft, there’s a shift eyes on the Profit Days, for more evidence pick one or the other.

While pro days are helpful, they don’t always tell the whole story. In 2021, waves were made when BYU quarterback Zach Wilson made a stellar throw across his body that grabbed headlines — and perhaps swayed some scouts’ minds in the process.

Now Young has the opportunity to showcase his unique talents in front of teams to cement his reputation as a top passer, with his pro day this week offering his best opportunity to do so.

What to watch from Bryce Young during his pro day

While throwing sessions in t-shirts and shorts don’t exactly suggest anything, Young’s pro day will mark the first time scouts and front offices get an up-close and personal look at the Alabama passer in throwing sessions. Young chose not to throw at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine, resulting in teams traveling to Tuscaloosa to evaluate him.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Young will throw against former Alabama receiver and free agent wideout Slade Bolden, among others.

Former Alabama WR/PR and current NFL free agent Slade Bolden will run routes and catch balls for QB Bryce Young on Thursday’s pro day of the Crimson Tide.

Young was measured at the combine, taped at 5-10 and 1/8 while weighing 204 pounds. It will be worth watching if Young gets measured again on his pro day, with a focus on his weight; NFL teams may feel that Young’s height may not be as big an issue as his physique. Young’s combine weight increased from the 194 pounds he played while at Alabama.

Bryce Young 2023 NFL Draft Projection

One thing is for sure: Young won’t have to wait long for his name to be called on April 27th.

The Panthers rose to No. 1 overall in mid-March, certainly cementing their commitment to putting a passer on top. However, it remains to be seen who that is.

Ohio State’s CJ Stroud has impressed throughout the preliminary design process, with a solid performance on the combine confirming its 1A design status. All of Stroud’s skills could challenge Young to become the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

However, recent reports suggest that there is a favorite among them. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Panthers came up with the “idea” that Bryce Young was their No. 1 guy:

“I think Bryce Young is the favorite to be number 1 overall,” said Schefter. … “I think in this particular case, they (the Panthers) came up with the idea that Bryce Young is a guy they love. They really like CJ Stroud too, they definitely have support in the organization and we’ll see what happens in the organization.”

However, there’s still a long way to go until April 27, and the road to Kansas City could take another detour on March 23.
