After two away games, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are returning home. The Yellow Jackets and Duke Blue Devils will face off in an ACC bout Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Historic Grant Field. Georgia Tech aren’t expected to win, but given the odds didn’t stop them in the last game, the squad may have another surprise up their sleeve.
Georgia Tech didn’t have much breathing room in their game against the Pittsburgh Panthers last week, but they still walked away with a 26-21 win. Georgia Tech’s success was spearheaded by the efforts of RB Hassan Hall, who recorded 157 yards on the ground with 20 carries, and QB Jeff Sims, who passed on 26 attempts for a TD and 102 yards, in addition to a rush for a TD and 81 meters. That nimble footwork is evident as Hall hit the 100-yard rushing mark for the first time this season.
Most of the roster’s points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 17. K Gavin Stewart delivered a perfect 4v4 game.
Meanwhile, Duke made easy work of the Virginia Cavaliers last week, clinching a 38-17 win. The odds makers were on Duke’s side, but they didn’t give the team enough credit as the lead was unexpectedly large. Duke QB Riley Leonard worked as he passed on 24 tries for a TD and 129 yards and added rushing for two TDs and 58 yards.
The wins put the Yellow Jackets 2-3 and the Blue Devils 4-1. Georgia Tech is 0-1 after wins of the season, Duke 2-1.
