The MTV Video Music Awards honor the best music videos and artists of the year. The 2022 ceremony will air August 28 at 8 p.m. ET on MTV and several other Paramount networks.

The 38th edition of the awards ceremony features tributes, live performances and, as always, unforgettable moments in front of the camera from many celebrities. Top 2022 VMA nominees include artists like Lil Nas X, Harry Styles, Jack Harlow, Foo Fighters, Olivia Rodrigo, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar and Billie Eilish.

For the first time since 1987, the VMAs will have more than two presenters. Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J and Jack Harlow will all share hosting duties. Minaj is also this year’s recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are honored as Global Icons of 2022.

Here’s how to watch the 2022 MTV VMAs

You can catch the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards live on August 28 at 8pm ET on MTV, BET, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, CW, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1.

Prior to the ceremony, pre-show coverage featuring performances, interviews and red carpet footage will be broadcast live on MTV starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.

If you already have a cable or satellite pay TV provider with MTV, you can stream the Video Music Awards using your account information through the MTV website and MTV app.

If you don’t have cable, you can watch the MTV VMAs 2022 on a live TV streaming service with access to all the channels that will be broadcasting the show. Sling TV is the cheapest of the bunch, with plans starting at $35 per month. Though Sling isn’t adding MTV to its baseline plan, it will stream the VMAs through BET and Comedy Central. New members even get a 50% discount in the first month.

MTV and its associated channels are also available on FuboTV, Youtube TV and Hulu + Live TV. Full channel lineup varies, and starting prices range from $65 to $70 per month. Although more expensive, each of these services offers a wider range of channels than Sling.

Can I watch the 2022 MTV VMAs for free?

You can watch MTV Video Music Awards 2022 for free if you sign up for a trial on FuboTV or Youtube TV. Both services offer one-week free trials for new members.
