What you should know
The Florida State Seminoles have enjoyed the comforts of home for the past two games, but now they must hit the streets. FSU and the NC State Wolfpack will face off in an ACC bout Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET at Carter-Finley Stadium. Considering that both teams suffered defeat in their last game, both go into this competition with a little extra motivation.
The Seminoles may have drawn first blood against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons last week, but it was Wake Forest who had the last laugh. FSU fell to Wake Forest 31-21. Despite the loss, FSU had strong performances from WR Mycah Pittman, who caught five passes for two TDs and 85 yards, and QB Jordan Travis, who passed on 35 attempts for three TDs and 281 yards.
The FSU defense was also present as they passed the Demon Deacons offensive line to sack QB Sam Hartman four times for a total loss of 31 yards. It was a group effort with four people contributing.
Meanwhile, NC State came up short against the Clemson Tigers last week, losing 30-20. No one had a standout game offensively for NC State, but QB Devin Leary led by two touchdowns.
The FSU is expected to lose this next one by 3. Those who picked them against the spread last week should consider that the team has yet to lose consecutive games against the spread this season.
The losses pushed both teams to an identical 4-1. A few stats to keep in mind: FSU is averaging 481.6 yards per game going into the matchup, good for the 17th-best in the nation. But the Wolfpack ranks 16th nationally for yards allowed per game, averaging just 280. We’ll see which of those strengths — offense or defense — will prevail.
