On Monday, BYU revealed the uniform combination for their upcoming game against Wyoming. The Cougars all wear Navy uniforms with white helmets. This combo was last worn against Texas State in 2020.
key to the game
1. Make life difficult for Andrew Peasley
Wyoming’s starting quarterback is Utah State transfer Andrew Peasley. Peasley is in his fifth year of college football, having appeared in 18 total games for the Aggies from 2018-2021.
BYU’s defense can make life difficult for Peasley by putting him in third-and-long situations. Over the course of his career, Peasley has only completed 57% of his passes. He found it particularly difficult to throw the ball down. Peasley is a 37% career passer when throwing the ball 10 more yards down.

Wyoming will rely primarily on the running game — the Cowboys have more rushing yards than passing yards this season. BYU needs to stop the run in first and second place to keep the Cowboys in third and long place. If they do that, they have a really good chance of walking off the field in third place.
Historically, Peasley has not thrown well under pressure. However, BYU must be careful when pressuring Peasley. Peasley has been pressured 23 times this season but has only been sacked twice. Over 90% of the time, Peasley will dodge the pressure and run, where he’s averaging 5.6 yards per carry this season
2. Set up the run
After a dominant performance on the floor in the opener at USF, BYU has struggled with handling the ball for the past two weeks. Wyoming’s defense will be a good test of BYU’s running game — the Cowboys held the Air Force to just 171 rushing yards. The Air Force leads the country in rushing at 412 yards per game.
BYU needs to rebuild dominance and physicality in the trenches against Wyoming. Establishing the run is important for tonight and for the rest of the season.
3. Finish rides in the red zone with touchdowns
BYU currently ranks 108th in the country for percentage of points in the red zone. You are in the bottom five in the red zone touchdown percentage. The Cougars are struggling to capitalize on chances in the red zone. This is largely driven by BYU’s on-the-ground struggles – the trajectories get much smaller in the red zone.
BYU needs to figure out its struggles in the red zone and create scoring chances against Wyoming.
