How to watch Shooting Stars: Live streaming options for LeBron James movie about high school basketball team

Before becoming a four-time NBA champion, four-time MVP, and all-time NBA all-time leading scorer, LeBron James was the most-lauded high school basketball star of all time.

His new film, Shooting Stars, documents his rise to become one of the greatest players in basketball history, playing alongside his childhood best friends at the St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. The tight-knit group of friends went on to become the No. 1 team in the country and won several state championships before James was selected No. 1 by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003.

“Even if your job happens to be the greatest basketball player in basketball history, [when you have] “That group of friends doesn’t matter,” said director Chris Robinson.

“It’s just fun when you’re connected. And I think that’s his superpower. You know, his basketball IQ is top notch. But I think his superpower is that this group of friends, this community, this village are still connected.”

Emmy-nominated Chris Robinson directed the film. Oscar nominees Terence Winter, Rachel Winter and Spencer Beighley served as producers, along with James and his childhood friend and business partner Maverick Carter.

What is Shooting Stars about?

Based on a book by James and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Buzz Bissinger, Shooting Stars tells the story of LeBron James and his childhood friends Dru Joyce III, Willie McGee, Sian Cotton and Romeo Travis, who are graduating from Akron Public School moved to St. Vincent-St. Mary High School to ensure they can all play together and continue their journey from their Rec-League team, Shooting Stars.

The film not only focuses on their success in court, but also on the difficulties they overcame together

The official synopsis is as follows:

Shooting Stars is set in the 1990s where a young LeBron James (Cook) and his three best friends – Lil Dru (Caleb McLaughlin, Stranger Things), Willie McGee (Avery S. Wills, Jr., Swagger) and Sian Cotton (Khalil Everage, Cobra Kai) – proclaim themselves the “Fab Four”, after the famous “Fab Five” of Michigan Wolverines of the era. From the moment we meet them, it’s clear to us that this group of friends, led by coach Dru Joyce (Wood Harris; Creed franchise), unites more than just basketball.

When the coach at their area’s top basketball school threatens to break them up by sending Lil Dru to junior varsity, the Fab Four decide to switch schools so they can play varsity together and instead close ranks join the team at a predominantly white Catholic school. The community takes this as an insult, but the boys’ mutual devotion is more important than anything else.

With their new coach (Dermot Mulroney; August: Osage County), a disgraced former college coach seeking redemption, the boys along with former rival and new teammate Romeo Travis (new signing Sterling “Scoot” Henderson) are set to fight that aren’t possible not only on the pitch but in real life, on your way to becoming national champions and will rediscover that the most important thing in the game is the people who play alongside you.
