This weekend, the nation will be able to celebrate the latest achievement of one of Hollywood’s most celebrated comedians.
According to CNN, Adam Sandler was recently honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington, DC. An all-star lineup was in attendance to be part of the event, which will now air Sunday, March 26 at 8:00 p.m. EST on CNN.
The award, first presented to Richard Pryor in 1998, recognizes individuals who have influenced American society in ways similar to novelist Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, according to the Kennedy Center’s website.

Sandler, 56, received the award and the event was taped on March 19.
The legendary comedian who has starred in films such as ‘Happy Gilmore’, ‘The Wedding Singer’, ‘The Waterboy’ and ‘Grown Ups’. Along the way, he’s forged working relationships with fellow comedians like Chris Rock and David Spade, both of whom were there as special guests to celebrate Sandler’s accomplishment, according to The Kennedy Center.
Joining the two at the 24th Annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor Gala at the Kennedy Center were Jennifer Aniston, Judd Apatow, Steve Buscemi, Ben Stiller and more. The Kennedy Center noted that the all-star cast of leading artists were to greet Sandler and congratulate him throughout the ceremony.
Over the past two decades, well-known names such as Will Ferrell and Bill Murray have been recognized by the center. The addition of Sandler only adds to the prestige of the comedian cast.
