How to Watch Team USA Vs. Canada in 2023 World Baseball Classic – NBC Connecticut

How to watch Team USA vs. Canada in World Baseball Classic originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

The pressure on Team USA is high.

After passing Great Britain in the opening game, the defending champions were crushed 11-5 by Mexico at Chase Field in Phoenix. Joey Meneses went deep twice and Mexico tagged Team USA’s pitching staff for 15 hits.

With the loss, the 2017 WBC champions suddenly found themselves in danger of an early elimination from one of the top tournament favorites. Now there is a scenario where Team USA could win their last two games and still not advance to quarterfinals.

After facing their neighbors to the south, Americans next face their neighbors to the north on Monday night. Canada kicked off their WBC on Sunday with a roller coaster win over Great Britain. The Canadians went from 3-0 down, through 10-5 to 10-8 before winning 18-8 in seven innings under the mercy rule.

Will Team USA be able to include Freddie Freeman, Tyler O’Neill and a Canadian lineup fresh from a monster performance? Here’s what you should know before the USA vs Canada game.

As Monday’s game begins, Canada and Colombia lead Group C with 1-0 records. Team USA and Mexico are both tied at 1-1, but Mexico hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. Great Britain is in last place with 0:2.

Who are the starting pitchers for Team USA vs. Canada?

Just like the duel with Mexico, Team USA will roll out a right turn and face a left turn. Chicago White Sox Veteran Lance Lynn starts for Team USA against Canada. The two-time All-Star had a 3.99 ERA in 21 starts last season.

Lynn’s pitching counterpart is 19 years old Texas Rangers Interested Mitch Bratt. Rangers selected Bratt in the fifth round of the 2021 draft and he had a 2.45 ERA over 19 appearances in the low-A-ball last year. A teen who didn’t pitch above Low A and faces a lineup full of MLB stars is quite a matchup. But as we’ve already seen, anything can happen in the WBC.

What is the expected starting line-up for Team USA vs Canada?

Against another southpaw, we could see manager Mark DeRosa play with a similar lineup as against Mexico. As for potential changes, look for Trea Turner to replace Jeff McNeil in second place and JT Realmuto to return behind the plate for Will Smith.

Here is what the full Team USA line-up could look like:
