Super League Toulouse: Who to watch out for

The race will be fourth in the 2022 championship series and the first for the athletes after a weekend off – meaning they can’t wait to fight for position ahead of the fifth and final race at Neom. Expect a passionate crowd in France cheering on hometown hero Vincent Luis along with a global lineup of triathlon stars.

At the head of the French race are current championship leader Taylor Spivey and 2021 Super League champion Georgia Taylor-Brown. Only one point separates the two in the current standings, making this weekend’s race a must-win. Spivey has the advantage here as she has a home win in Malibu. But don’t discount Taylor-Brown, who is desperate to defend her overall series title. How eager? Just look at her race in Malibu, where she recovered from a crash early in the race to fight her way through the field and onto the podium. Spivey and Taylor-Brown must fend off speedsters like Beth Potter and Non Stanford in their battle for the highest honors.

In the men’s game, Hayden Wilde will look to improve his points total going into the final – currently Wilde’s 43 points is a comfortable (but not too comfortable) margin over second-placed Vasco Vilaca (who appears to be recovering). from his last seal bite quite well). But Wilde has a target on his back in Toulouse and Australia’s Matt Hauser is fixated on it as he looks to improve on his current third-place finish.

Super League Toulouse: course and format

The Port del la Daurade in Toulouse will be the focal point of the race, which will be held in the triple mix format, a three-stage ‘mini’ triathlon format in which the order of the swim-bike-run is changed at each stage. Athletes build up time in the first two stages, which determines their lead in the final stages. The first athlete to cross the finish line in the final stage wins.
