I Tried It: How to Order the Best 3 Starbucks Fall Drinks (Not on the Menu)

My favorite fall activities range from visiting the pumpkin patch to shopping for all those chunky knit sweaters to leisurely watching horror movies — but the one thing that stays constant with every activity is a cup of Starbucks in my hand. My local Starbucks can expect to see me bright and early on the day the fall menu launches, as much as I’m drawn to snagging a PSL “for the culture.” It’s honestly not my favorite Starbucks fall beverage.

I’ve been on a (slightly expensive) hunt to find the perfect Starbucks drink for fall, and through a large number of caffeinated drinks and weird flavor combinations, I’ve finally narrowed down the top three drinks you need to try before the season ends . Disclaimer: There is a lot of love for pumpkin.

#1: Starbucks Iced Chai Latte with Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam

At the top of my list if Starbucks decided to carry pumpkin flavors year-round, this would be my new favorite everyday drink. I almost didn’t want to continue my search after trying this because I decided that no other drink could top it.

Frozen chai is such a subtle, smooth drink on its own, making it the perfect option for tossing on with pumpkin foam. Add cinnamon powder and you’ll feel like you just chopped up the Starbucks fall menu.

#2: Starbucks Brown Sugar White Mocha

As soon as the weather drops below 10 degrees, I only order a white chocolate mocha with almond milk. It seemed obvious to experiment with such a basic drink. Here’s what I made: a tall white mocha, two pumps of brown simple syrup, light whipping cream, and powdered cinnamon on top.

The white mocha brings a hint of sweetness to make this flavor delicious, but it’s not overwhelming and can still serve as a solid drink for those looking for a pick-me-up to help them function throughout the day .

#3: Starbucks Iced Pumpkin Macchiato

Naturally, caramel feels more like a “warm” flavor to me, so I took a look at the typical iced caramel macchiato and tried to break down where I could make the drink feel a little less like a summer option. Here’s what you’ll order: a frozen caramel macchiato, three pumps of pumpkin sauce underneath the vanilla syrup, caramel drizzle and pumpkin spice topping.

It was overwhelmingly sweet at first taste, but once it was shaken nice and vigorously to allow the sauce to spread, I realized this was one of my better choices. It’s a cute and fun coffee option, and bonus points for the fact that it’s pretty to look at.

Before you rush off to place your Starbucks order, let me give you some advice: no matter what the internet says and no matter what sauces you add, an iced triple latte isn’t the answer, especially at night. Learn from my mistakes – you’ll be jumping off walls all day. Happy slurping!
