Montreal Canadiens

Kaiden Guhle wore a regulars jersey at the Montreal Canadiens morning skate on Friday.

Guhle, 21, has not played against the Florida Panthers since Dec. 29, where he sustained a leg injury.

The Alberta-born rookie was awarded the 16th pick overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, scoring twice and 14 points in 36 games.

The Canadiens also announced that Chris Tierney, who was released from waivers by the Florida Panthers on Thursday, will wear the number 67 for the Habs.

Tierney, 28, split this season between the Panthers and fellow American Hockey League member Charlotte Checkers.

The 55th overall pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft had two goals and one assist in 13 NHL games.

Florida Panther

Florida Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov was on the ice in a non-contact jersey on Friday before the team’s morning skate session.

Barkov’s status for the Panthers’ game against the Buffalo Sabers was not disclosed.

Barkov, 27, has 16 goals and 50 points in 50 games with the Florida Panthers this season. A native of Tampere, Finland, he was nominated for the 2023 NHL All-Star Game after it was announced that Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews would not be attending due to injury.

Most recently, Barkov clocked 22:29 minutes of ice time against the Anaheim Ducks in a 4-3 win on Monday.

The Panthers also announced that they have recalled Zac Dalpe and Grigori Denisenko from the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers.

Dalpe, 33, has two goals and four points in 11 games with the Panthers.

Denisenko, 22, has run in 17 games for the Panthers and has recorded a trio of three points.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray is expected to return to practice Saturday and join the team on their upcoming five-game road trip, head coach Sheldon Keefe said.

The Thunder Bay, Ontario native suffered an ankle injury while warming up before his game against the Ottawa Senators last month.

The 28-year-old last played in the 5-4 win against the Florida Panthers on January 17. Murray started the game but was drawn after allowing four goals on eight shots.

Murray is 11-5-2 with a 2.73 GAA and a .911 save rate this season. He missed most of October due to an adductor injury sustained in the first game of the season against the Montreal Canadiens.

Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars announced Friday that they have recalled Fredrik Olofsson from the AHL’s Texas Stars.

Olofsson, 26, has four points in 15 games for the NHL club this season. At the AHL level, the Helsingborg native of Sweden has five goals and 14 points in 37 games.
