In Hoshiarpur, Amritpal Singh, mentor escape police again | Latest News India

Pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and his mentor Papalpreet Singh reportedly evaded Punjab police again after a massive search was launched at a village in Hoshiarpur late Tuesday night to arrest them.

In the picture it looks like Amritpal Singh and Papalpreet Singh are sitting on a truck.

Police chased a white Innova car (PB-10 CK0527) out of Phagwara after suspecting that the fugitive Amritpal and his aide might be traveling in the vehicle. The car passed a police checkpoint before stopping at a gurdwara in Mehtiana. The occupants of the vehicle abandoned the car near Gurdwara Bhai Chanchal Singh in Marnaian village and fled, officials told PTI news agency.

However, the police arrested two of his helpers during the search operation. Those arrested followed the Auto Innova.

The village was sealed off and a search operation launched while checkpoints and barricades were erected on the streets to apprehend the suspects.

The ‘Waris Punjab De’ has been at large since police crackdown on him and members of the group on March 18, some three weeks after he and his supporters stormed into Ajnala police station near Amritsar to arrest the police to secure the release of an arrested man.

The preacher escaped police manhunt in Jalandhar district on March 18, changed his vehicle and changed his appearance.

Amritpal and his associates have been charged with several criminal cases linked to spreading class disharmony, attempted assassination, attacks on police personnel and creating obstacles to the legitimate performance of duties by government officials.

A new video of Amritpal Singh with his key adviser Papalpreet Singh surfaced on social media on Tuesday, showing the pro-Khalistan preacher turbanless and wearing a mask.

Undated CCTV camera footage, allegedly from a Delhi market, showed the fugitive walking down a street wearing dark glasses. Behind him was Papalpreet Singh with a bag.

There has been no official word from Punjab Police on the new footage. A senior Delhi Police official said they are checking whether those shown in the video are Amritpal and his assistants.
