In latest low blow, Donald Trump amplifies attack labeling Ron DeSantis a ‘groomer’

Ron DeSantis continues to be attacked by former President donald trump as evidence mounts, the two are on a collision course next year.

Trump went to his personal social media platform, truth socialto throw fresh mud at the Florida governor, including allegations that DeSantis engaged in “grooming” behavior.

Trump started the barrage by saying “re-truth‘, a post that includes a 2018 tweet calling for the election to be “called out” in favor of DeSantis and DeSantis Rick Scott, each of which was in tight elections in November. In another re-truththe former president answered a rhetorical question about the then-congressman’s vote against the “border wall” in 2018.

“Wow, if I had known I wouldn’t have backed him (and he would have had to retire down 35 points!)” Trump claimed, alluding to stories commonly told about how DeSantis asked him for his confirmation, apparently with “Tears come from his eyes‘ and said that without him he would have dropped out of the race for governor.

This material is well-rehearsed, as supporters of this one-sided flame war know. But on Tuesday, the former president opened a new and dirty line of attack, focusing on a photo dating back to that of the governor Short-lived teaching career at a college preparatory academy, where he reportedly fraternized with students.

Former President new truthful a poster annotating a picture of DeSantis and former students.

“Ron DeSantis threw his students a ‘drinking party’ when he was a high school teacher. Drinking and cuddling with underage girls definitely looks pretty disgusting and ephebophilic,” the caption reads.

Trump replied, “No way?”

Then a second truth on a post with text on the image stating, “This is Ron DeSanctimonious, a teacher grooming high school girls with alcohol.”

“It’s not Ron, is it? He would never do such a thing!” Trump responded sarcastically.

The timing seems more than coincidental given the news that DeSantis allies are forming Great PAC ahead of an expected run for the White House beginning later this year.

Trump had taken almost a week off from the attacks on DeSantis, with the latest barrage on the early Februarywhen he took his truth social Account to bash DeSantis as “Globalist” and “RINO” (Republican in name only).

“Thank you. The real Ron is a RINO GLOBALIST who was quick to shut down Florida and even its beaches. Loved the vaccines and wasted a lot of money on ‘testing’. How quickly people forget!”

Trump also has various messages of support, such as “President Trump will destroy DeSantis in the primary”, “made truthful again”, similar to retweeting on Twitter, “people need to do their (sic) investigation there, DeSantis is wrong and a globalist” and recalls that the then Congressman voted for resolutions that would raise the retirement age to 70.

“You need to go back and look at his story. You will tour (sic) change your mind. He is a RINO. Paid resistance to stop Trump from saving America. A vote for DeSantis is a vote for the establishment,” read a letter from a Trump supporter that endorsed the former president.

Trump also offered a retaliation to DeSantis’ claims that Florida voters made a “verdict” by re-electing him in 2022 by a massive margin.

“Remember, I was 233-20 in the midterms and got 1.2 million MORE votes than Ron DeSanctimonious in the Great State of Florida. Also, 12 million MORE votes in 2020 than in 2016 and won!”

Earlier, Trump posted a video of then-Congressman DeSantis quoting the former House Speaker Paul Ryan as a model and continuation of a series of insults about the so-called “globalist“Governor.

DeSantis hasn’t offered similarly sharp attacks and tries to stay above the fight when forced to respond to Trump’s goads, such as during one last press conference in Southwest Florida when the governor avoided targeting Trump by name.

“All I would say is this: I’m rolling out of bed, I’ve got people attacking me from all angles, it’s been happening for many, many years,” DeSantis said.

“The good thing when you take a crisis situation like COVID is that as an elected leader you have to make all sorts of decisions. You have to steer the ship. And the good thing is, the people can make up their own minds about whether or not to re-elect you.”

That’s about as hot as DeSantis credentials have gotten. In fact, the governor appeared to be courting Trump at a roundtable discussion about “defamation” earlier Tuesday in which he delivered another condemnation of the “Wrong collusion with Russia‘ Trump was accused of. DeSantis had spent his last two years in Congress defending Trump against these allegations, which the former president said helped support DeSantis against them Adam Putnam.
